A new global initiative, ETHIS (Ethical Technologies for Humanity, Intelligence & Sustainability), has officially launched during San Francisco Tech Week at the historic Homebrew Computer Club. Positioned as the world's first AI-powered and human-governed platform, ETHIS aims to unite leaders from business, academia, government, and civil society to champion the ethical and responsible use of technology for the greater good, building on the momentum of a recent global summit.
ETHIS launched at San Francisco Tech Week at the Homebrew Computer Club.
It is an AI-powered, human-governed platform for ethical technology advocacy.
The initiative unites leaders from business, academia, government, and civil society.
It builds on the momentum of July's AI & Sustainability Global Summit in NYC.
The goal is to provide structure and lasting impact to conversations on tech ethics.
Future plans include a flagship global conference and recognition programs.
In an era defined by rapid AI advancement, ETHIS was created to provide structure and a shared platform for critical conversations about technology's role in society. The launch builds on an invitation-only summit that convened over 350 academics, executives, and nonprofit visionaries. “The Summit’s energy was incredible. There wasn’t yet a collective stage to carry it forward. ETHIS was created to give these conversations structure, a shared platform, and lasting impact,” said Xiaoran Cai, the Director of ETHIS.
The platform emphasizes collaboration across sectors to ensure technology serves humanity. During the launch event, leaders from various fields shared their perspectives, highlighting the need for scientific integrity, international collaboration, and scalable, sustainable business practices. A core tenet of the initiative is scaling trust and inclusion alongside technological progress, ensuring that AI's development is aligned with long-term human and environmental well-being.
By creating a centralized, authoritative forum for dialogue and action, ETHIS seeks to shape an ethical and sustainable future for AI, ensuring that technological progress is matched by a commitment to human values and collective responsibility.
