Klarna, the global digital bank and flexible payments provider, has announced its support for Google’s Agent Payments Protocol (AP2) — an open standard designed to enable secure, agent-led payments across digital environments.
The collaboration strengthens Klarna’s long-standing relationship with Google, which already spans Google Pay, Chrome’s autofill, Google Store, Google Play, and Google Cloud.
“Agent-led commerce represents an exciting new frontier — one that demands transparency, trust, and smarter payment experiences,” said David Sykes, Chief Commercial Officer at Klarna. “We’re doubling down on our partnership with Google to support their work with AP2 and help define an open, responsible payments architecture for the future of shopping.”
Klarna’s technology already powers seamless and secure payments across channels — offering real-time underwriting, flexible payment options, and transparent terms that consumers trust.
With the rise of agentic commerce, Klarna’s integration with AP2 enables consumers to shop confidently, whether they’re interacting directly with an AI-powered agent or have delegated payment tasks entirely. The protocol ensures consistency, intelligence, and security in every agent-led transaction.
“For years, we’ve been working with Klarna to deliver secure, seamless, and innovative payment experiences,” said Stavan Parikh, VP/GM, Payments, Google. “Their contributions to AP2 exemplify the kind of cross-industry collaboration needed to build open, scalable frameworks that enable the future of commerce.”
Klarna’s involvement in AP2 marks its evolution from a flexible payments provider to a core infrastructure contributor in the next generation of commerce. The company continues to collaborate with global partners like Google to ensure intelligent, secure, and intuitive shopping experiences worldwide.
Klarna is a global digital bank and flexible payments provider with over 111 million active users and 2.9 million daily transactions. Its AI-powered payments and commerce network helps consumers pay smarter, offering options from debit to interest-free installments and long-term plans.
