Careerz Group, a leader in assessment-driven hiring, retention, and career development solutions, has acquired all assets of DreamJob Discovery from author and creator Ken Steven. The acquisition includes Steven’s book DreamJob Discovery: How to Find a Job That Fuels Your Passion and Inspires Your Purpose and the proprietary DreamJob Type Indicator (DJTI), the only career assessment designed specifically to identify workflow processes that bring genuine enjoyment and fulfillment to professionals.

Quick Intel

  • Careerz Group acquires DreamJob Discovery assets, including the DJTI assessment and Ken Steven’s book on passion-driven career alignment.
  • DJTI, developed over 16 years, identifies 21 distinct DreamJob Types™ within a proprietary 4Ts framework focused on job passion types.
  • Addresses a key gap in talent management by measuring what people love doing, not just what they are good at, to improve fulfillment and reduce misalignment.
  • Integrates with Careerz Group’s existing validated assessments and AI-assisted guidance for a complete view of candidate and employee fit.
  • Targets high costs of disengagement, with Gallup data showing only 21% of global workers engaged and $438 billion in lost productivity in 2024.
  • Benefits employees with clearer career direction, employers with better retention and reduced mis-hires, and coaches with a structured 4Ts framework.

Conventional career assessments often focus on skills, personality, or strengths, but overlook the critical element of intrinsic enjoyment in work processes. The DJTI fills this gap by pinpointing the specific workflow types that naturally energize and engage individuals, enabling more accurate alignment between people and roles.

"Most career assessments measure what people are good at. The DJTI measures what people love doing. Just because someone excels at something doesn’t mean they enjoy it. That’s a critical distinction when it comes to job fulfillment,” said Ken Steven. “Careerz Group’s acquisition means this self-assessment tool can now reach the scale I always envisioned: helping at least one million people escape paycheck purgatory and discover work that fuels their passion and inspires their purpose."

The DJTI is built on Steven’s 4Ts framework—Truths (core values), Type (passion workflows), Traits (aptitudes and style), and Transition (structured roadmap)—developed from his own experience climbing the corporate ladder in unfulfilling roles. The acquisition integrates this passion-focused lens into Careerz Group’s broader platform, combining it with tools for aptitudes, personality, behavioral style, values, and AI-assisted guidance.

"Careerz Group was built on a simple belief: when people do work that fits, they thrive and so do the teams around them," said Melissa Fisher, Careerz Group CEO. "Ken Steven's DreamJob Type Indicator assessment tool fills a gap that has existed in talent management for decades. Combining DJTI with our existing assessment infrastructure gives us the most complete picture of candidate and employee fit available anywhere—covering aptitudes, personality, behavioral style, natural strengths, personal values, and job passion type."

This combined approach delivers measurable benefits across stakeholders. Employees gain clarity on passion-aligned roles, reducing trial-and-error career shifts. Employers improve hiring accuracy and retention by matching candidates to positions where both performance and engagement are high. Coaches and counselors benefit from a repeatable, four-step framework that accelerates client progress.

The acquisition aligns with growing recognition of disengagement’s economic toll. Gallup’s latest data indicates widespread psychological detachment in the workforce, underscoring the need for tools that foster deeper fulfillment and productivity.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. All DreamJob Discovery intellectual property, including the DJTI, book rights, and associated assets, will integrate fully into the Careerz Group platform, with seamless continuity for existing users.
