CAMBRIDGE, England--Redgate Software, the database DevOps and database management company, today announced Redgate Assistant, its purpose-built AI assistant for database professionals. Available from today in Redgate Monitor and SQL Prompt, Redgate Assistant brings context-aware, governed AI directly into the workflows teams use to develop, manage and monitor their databases.
This is the latest step towards Redgate’s vision to be the leading provider of safe agentic database management. As Redgate continues to advance autonomous operations for database professionals, Redgate Assistant will have new capabilities added and become more deeply embedded across the portfolio. This will help organizations move progressively from AI-assisted database work towards more autonomous database management, while maintaining human oversight and organizational control.

Unlike general-purpose AI tools that require users to provide database context manually, Redgate Assistant is purpose-built to handle the complexity of database development and operations. It understands the database environment and task at hand, helping professionals investigate issues, understand unfamiliar databases, improve code and complete routine work faster.
Redgate Assistant is designed with enterprise control and governance at its core. It operates within existing database access controls and as a distinct, auditable user, giving organizations visibility into what AI can access and do, while supporting security, compliance and governance requirements.
As AI adoption accelerates, database management teams need richer, context-aware solutions that deliver productivity gains without increasing compliance risk. Redgate’s 2026 State of the Database Landscape research found that 44% of organizations now use AI for database management, nearly three times the 15% reported a year earlier. Among those using AI, 46% report significant productivity gains and 76% significant cost savings, yet security and privacy remain the leading concerns around adoption, cited by 64% of respondents.
Redgate Assistant is being developed across three core areas:
- Database-aware assistance: Uses the context of the customer’s database environment to provide relevant answers and guidance, without users repeatedly having to explain schemas, objects and database structures.
- Connected AI across database workflows: Starting with Redgate Monitor and SQL Prompt, Redgate Assistant will expand across Redgate’s portfolio to provide a consistent AI experience across development and operational workflows.
- Safe, governed automation: Works within existing database permissions and provides an auditable record of its activity. Redgate is adding Verified Remediation capability to enable the Assistant to investigate an issue, propose a fix and test it against a safe copy of the database before presenting it for human review.
Redgate Assistant is available today in Redgate Monitor and SQL Prompt, with additional capabilities and integrations across Redgate’s portfolio being introduced over the coming months.
