Socket Mobile, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCKT), a provider of data capture and delivery solutions for workforce productivity, has announced the appointment of David A. Holmes as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective June 12, 2026. Holmes succeeds Kevin Mills, who served as CEO for over two decades, marking a significant leadership transition for the company.
The leadership change marks a pivotal moment for Socket Mobile as the company transitions from long-term CEO Kevin Mills to David A. Holmes. Mills led the organization from March 2000 through June 2026, overseeing its evolution in the data capture and mobile productivity space.
Holmes, who joined the company in 2021 as Chief Business Officer, has been responsible for global business development and marketing initiatives, positioning him as a key driver of the company’s recent strategic direction.
According to the Board of Directors, Holmes’ appointment reflects confidence in his ability to guide Socket Mobile through its next phase of growth. His background in Near-Field Communications (NFC), mobile payments and enterprise technology is expected to support the company’s continued focus on expanding its data capture ecosystem.
The Board highlighted his experience, customer relationships and leadership capabilities as key factors in the decision.
"Dave has played an important role in the Company's business development efforts and strategic initiatives over the past five years," said Charlie Bass, Chairman of the Board of Directors. "The Board believes Dave's industry experience, customer relationships, and leadership capabilities make him well positioned to lead Socket Mobile as we continue to focus on growth, operational execution, and creating value for our stockholders."
Before joining Socket Mobile, Holmes held leadership roles at NXP and Identive Group, where he worked across NFC and identity technologies. Most recently, he served in UL Solutions’ Cybersecurity division, overseeing global strategic accounts and North America sales.
His experience spans mobile payments, cybersecurity and enterprise sales, aligning closely with Socket Mobile’s focus on barcode scanning and mobile data capture solutions used across retail, logistics, field service and manufacturing sectors.
Socket Mobile’s solutions are widely used by third-party mobile applications that integrate barcode scanning and contactless data capture tools. The company supports a network of developers building applications for industries including retail, transportation, field services and digital identity.
Under new leadership, the company is expected to continue strengthening its developer ecosystem and expanding adoption of its hardware-enabled mobile data solutions.
"I am honored to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of Socket Mobile," said Holmes. "I look forward to working with our employees, customers, partners, and Board members to build on the Company's strengths, pursue new opportunities, and deliver innovative solutions to our customers."
