Scott Gill to Lead Technology and Operations Across TEGNA

TEGNA has promoted Scott Gill to Vice President of Technology and Operations, where he will oversee engineering, technology, and operational initiatives across the company's nationwide broadcast network.

Gill will focus on improving station performance, modernizing technical infrastructure, and supporting content delivery across traditional broadcasting, streaming services, mobile applications, and digital platforms.

Driving Broadcast Technology and Digital Transformation

Gill joined TEGNA in 2012 and most recently served as Head of Technology and Sports Operations. During his tenure, he led technology and operational strategies that supported the company's ongoing digital transformation initiatives.

His responsibilities included overseeing technology operations across TEGNA's broadcast stations while supporting live sports programming and nationally syndicated content.

Gill also played an important role in supporting coverage for major sports leagues, including:

  • NBA
  • WNBA
  • NHL
  • MLB
  • Other live sports broadcasts

His leadership contributed to improving operational efficiency across both broadcast and digital media operations.

Expanding Technology for Local News Operations

Beyond broadcast infrastructure, Gill directed TEGNA's drone and helicopter technology programs, helping local stations expand aerial newsgathering capabilities while maintaining high operational and safety standards.

His background combines technical expertise with extensive field operations experience, enabling him to support both newsroom innovation and large-scale live event production.

Extensive Experience in Broadcast Media

Before joining TEGNA, Gill spent a decade with Fox News Network, where he supported field operations for major news coverage and live events.

His career also includes technical roles with Harpo Productions on The Oprah Winfrey Show, along with experience at multiple television stations and production facilities.

In addition to his broadcasting background, Gill is a former Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and a licensed pilot, bringing diverse operational experience to his leadership role.

The appointment reflects TEGNA's continued investment in technology modernization and digital infrastructure as local media organizations expand content delivery across broadcast, streaming, connected TV, mobile, and digital platforms.
