PhotoShelter, the leading digital asset management (DAM) platform for brands, has launched Content Derivatives, a new capability that allows marketing and creative teams to quickly adapt image assets for every channel directly within the DAM without downloading or using external tools.

Quick Intel

  • PhotoShelter introduces Content Derivatives to create cropped, resized, and reformatted image versions inside its DAM platform.
  • The feature eliminates manual downloading, external editing, and re-uploading, reducing duplication and inconsistency across channels.
  • Each derivative remains linked to the original asset for full visibility, control, and automatic updates when the source file changes.
  • Teams can save and apply custom presets for common formats used in web, social, email, and other channels.
  • Content Derivatives addresses persistent manual processes that slow down teams despite growing AI adoption in content workflows.
  • The capability is now available to all PhotoShelter for Brands customers.

Marketing teams face growing pressure to produce and distribute assets across multiple platforms, yet image adaptation often remains a manual and fragmented process. Content Derivatives solves this by enabling channel-ready versions to be created efficiently while maintaining brand consistency.

Streamlining Image Adaptation in DAM

With Content Derivatives, teams can crop, resize, and reformat assets directly in PhotoShelter. This removes the need for multiple tools and reduces the risk of version sprawl. Every derived version stays connected to the master file, ensuring updates to the original automatically propagate to all derivatives.

Teams can also create and save custom presets for frequently used formats, making the process even faster for omnichannel distribution. Assets can be hosted and delivered directly from PhotoShelter across web, social, and other channels.

"Teams are constantly turning one asset into five, ten or even hundreds versions just to meet different channel requirements," said Christina Kyriazi, Chief Marketing Officer at PhotoShelter. "Most of that work still happens manually, which slows teams down and creates unnecessary versions to manage. Now, teams can create those formats without adding more steps."

According to PhotoShelter research, even with 70% of marketers using AI in content workflows, manual tasks like image adaptation, reviews, and approvals continue to hinder productivity.

Content Derivatives is now available to PhotoShelter for Brands customers.
