Align, a premier global provider of technology infrastructure solutions and managed IT services, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Founded in New York City in 1986, the company has grown from a specialized technology relocation firm for Wall Street institutions into a global infrastructure leader with dual specializations in Professional Services across the data center lifecycle and Managed Services for the alternative investment industry.
Align is celebrating its 40th anniversary, marking four decades of technological evolution and market leadership since its founding in New York City in 1986.
The company operates through two core business lines: Professional Services for data center lifecycle solutions and Managed Services for alternative investment IT and cybersecurity.
Over its history, Align has navigated major technological shifts, including Y2K preparation, post-9/11 business continuity, and pandemic-era digital transformation.
In recent years, Align has engineered 5 gigawatts of capacity to support high-performance computing and artificial infrastructure demands.
The milestone was commemorated with celebratory events in Virginia and at the Rainbow Room in New York City.
Align is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, with additional offices across major financial and technology hubs globally.
Since its inception, Align has continuously aligned its capabilities with shifting enterprise requirements. Early operations focused on complex technology relocations for financial services firms, requiring rigorous execution in highly interconnected environments. As the technology landscape matured, the firm expanded its offerings to include end-to-end data center design, construction, and migration services.
Throughout its history, Align has adapted to pivotal market disruptions. The company helped clients navigate the Y2K transition, established business continuity frameworks following September 11, diversified beyond financial services during the 2008 financial crisis, and accelerated digital transformation initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Align was built around solving complex technology challenges for clients who couldn’t afford disruption," said Jim Dooling, Founder and CEO of Align. "That hasn’t changed. What has changed is the technology and what our clients need from us. For four decades, we’ve anticipated what’s next, continually evolving our capabilities to deliver the IT solutions and expertise our clients need to navigate change and stay ahead of their competition."
As Align enters its fifth decade, the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence and high-performance computing is generating unprecedented demands for data center power, density, and connectivity. To address these requirements, Align has built 5 gigawatts of capacity for clients, positioning itself at the intersection of traditional IT infrastructure and next-generation compute workloads.
Reflecting on the milestone and the road ahead, Dooling noted, "Our clients have never stopped evolving, and neither have we. We’re proud of what we’ve built over the past 40 years, but we’re equally excited about Align’s continued growth and the opportunities ahead. We have a strong foundation, an incredible team and a clear vision for the future, and we’re excited to build on that momentum in our fifth decade."
