Nayya Survey: 73% of Employees Use AI for Health & Wealth

Nayya has released a new survey, "The HR Trust Paradox," revealing that 73% of employees are already using AI for guidance on personal health, finance, and wellness decisions. The report uncovers a significant gap in trust and support, finding that a majority of employees avoid asking HR benefits questions for fear of appearing uninformed or due to privacy concerns, leading them to seek out alternative, judgment-free tools.

Quick Intel

  • 73% of employees use AI for personal health, finance, and wellness guidance.

  • 70% have avoided asking HR questions for fear of looking uninformed.

  • Over two-thirds have held back from asking HR due to privacy concerns.

  • 85% of employees report high trust in their employer to handle data safely.

  • 53% are comfortable with AI performing agentic tasks like filing insurance claims.

  • Employees show strong openness to using an employer-sponsored AI benefits tool.

The HR Trust Paradox and the Shift to AI
The survey identifies a critical disconnect: while employees need guidance on complex benefits, they are reluctant to seek it from their HR department. Nearly seven in ten have avoided asking questions for fear of looking uninformed, and a similar number have held back due to privacy concerns. This has created a "trust paradox" where employees are gravitating towards AI tools they perceive as non-judgmental for answers to their benefits questions.

High AI Adoption Despite Lingering Concerns
The data shows widespread and frequent use of consumer AI tools like ChatGPT for critical personal decisions, from budgeting to symptom checking. Notably, close to half of the employees surveyed use AI for their health and wealth questions multiple times per week, despite nearly 70% expressing general concerns about AI in their personal lives. This indicates that the immediate value of AI often outweighs their doubts.

The Opportunity for Employer-Sponsored AI
The report highlights a significant opportunity for employers to fill this guidance gap with a trusted, sponsored solution. With 85% of employees trusting their employer to handle data safely, there is a built-in permission structure for secure, employer-provided AI tools that consumer applications lack. As Sarah Liebel, President of Nayya, stated, "Employees are already turning to AI for help with their benefits. Many even say they would feel more confident and better supported with an employer-sponsored AI tool."

Nayya's survey underscores a pivotal moment for benefits administration. As employees proactively adopt AI for personal guidance, forward-thinking employers have a clear opportunity to leverage this trend by implementing secure, accurate, and personalized AI tools that build on existing trust, transform the employee experience, and ensure their benefits investments are fully utilized.
