Recruitics has introduced the Open Job Context Protocol (OJCP), a new open standard designed to improve how AI agents and employers interact during the hiring process. Developed with leading recruitment technology companies, OJCP aims to reduce low-quality AI-generated job applications, strengthen candidate data protection, and help organizations identify qualified talent more efficiently as AI transforms recruitment.

Recruitics Introduces Open Job Context Protocol

Recruitics has announced the launch of the Open Job Context Protocol (OJCP), a vendor-neutral industry standard that enables AI agents and employers to communicate through structured job posting and application data.

The protocol is designed to improve recruitment efficiency by reducing application noise, protecting candidate information, and helping employers identify better-qualified applicants in an increasingly AI-driven hiring landscape.

Industry Collaboration Drives AI Hiring Standard

OJCP was developed by Recruitics alongside a coalition of hiring technology organizations that includes Workday, Cross Country Healthcare, HiringCafe, AIApply, scale.jobs, and LoopCV.

Recruitics Chief Technology Officer Austin Anderson authored the specification, bringing together industry participants around a shared framework built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The protocol extends MCP by providing AI agents with structured job requirements and hiring criteria, enabling more accurate job matching before applications are submitted.

"Within the next two years, AI-enabled job applications will make up the vast majority of open positions posted publicly," said Adam Stafford, CEO of Recruitics. "Every CHRO and TA leader should already be planning for this dramatic shift in the recruitment pipeline. In the future, employers who can attract and talk to AI agents will win the best talent. OJCP is the industry’s opportunity to ensure a free, open standard that will allow employers and job seekers alike to benefit from this new era of AI adoption."

Addressing Challenges Created by AI Recruitment

According to Recruitics, AI agents increasingly browse job boards, complete application forms, and submit applications on behalf of candidates. While AI simplifies the application process, employers are experiencing a growing volume of mismatched or low-quality submissions.

The company cites industry estimates indicating:

  • Approximately 70% of job seekers already use AI during their job search.
  • AI adoption continues to grow for resume creation, cover letters, application forms, and interview preparation.
  • AI bots now generate more web traffic than human users.
  • Large employers report that nearly one-third of inbound applications originate from AI agents.

Recruitics believes these challenges stem from the lack of standardized communication between employers and AI systems.

OJCP Creates a Common Language for AI Hiring

OJCP establishes a shared protocol that allows AI agents, applicant tracking systems (ATS), job boards, and employer platforms to communicate using a consistent structure.

Key benefits include:

  • AI agents can evaluate job fit before submitting applications.
  • Employers receive higher-quality candidate applications.
  • Candidates gain greater control over personal data through a consent-first framework.
  • Organizations avoid fragmented integrations across hiring platforms.

“Industries often have specific needs where common protocols can provide value. Built on top of existing layers, I see OJCP as a promising application of the agentic web for hiring," said Andrew Nolan, Co-creator of WebMCP.

Open Standard Supports Future Recruitment Innovation

Recruitics emphasized that OJCP is governed by an independent body and is freely available to the hiring ecosystem.

"Hiring is entering a new phase, and it’s up to employers and the industry at large to keep up with and adapt to the latest advancements in technology," said Austin Anderson, CTO at Recruitics. "Open standards are a win-win for everyone, and OJCP is governed by a standalone body open to any company in the ecosystem. We’re proud to share OJCP and help shape the hiring industry’s AI future."

OJCP version 0.1 is now available and can be implemented alongside existing recruitment infrastructure. Employers, applicant tracking system providers, and job boards can begin adopting the protocol without replacing current systems, enabling greater interoperability across AI-powered hiring workflows.
