Maxio Launches Entitlements for SaaS and AI Billing Automation

Maxio has introduced Entitlements, a new access and governance layer designed to help SaaS and AI companies manage customer permissions directly from their billing platform. The new capability connects subscription billing with customer access rights, allowing businesses to automate feature availability, usage limits, and service entitlements without relying on custom engineering work.

The launch addresses a growing challenge for SaaS and AI companies as subscription models become increasingly complex with usage-based pricing, AI services, and hybrid revenue models. By integrating entitlement management into its billing platform, Maxio aims to eliminate disconnected systems and simplify revenue operations.

Quick Intel

  • Maxio launched Entitlements to unify billing and customer access management.
  • The solution automates feature access, usage limits, and service rights from billing data.
  • Subscription changes automatically update customer entitlements without custom coding.
  • The Entitlement Query API provides a unified view of customer access across products.
  • Entitlements supports access rights, usage limits, and service-level entitlements.
  • The feature is available immediately for all Maxio customers.

Maxio Connects Billing and Customer Access

Many SaaS and AI companies currently manage customer permissions using custom-built code, webhook integrations, and spreadsheets that often require continuous maintenance whenever pricing models change.

Maxio's Entitlements removes this complexity by allowing organizations to define customer access, usage thresholds, and service rights directly within the billing system. Whenever a subscription is modified, customer entitlements are automatically updated without requiring additional provisioning logic or engineering intervention.

"Billing and access data have been split across two systems for so long that most teams treat it as normal. It isn't," said Branden Jenkins, chief executive officer at Maxio. "AI and usage-based pricing made that split impossible to ignore."

Supporting Modern SaaS and AI Revenue Models

As SaaS businesses increasingly combine subscriptions, usage-based pricing, and one-time purchases within a single customer contract, managing customer entitlements has become significantly more complex.

According to Maxio, Entitlements serves as a centralized source of truth by connecting billing records with customer permissions. This approach enables organizations to ensure that purchased products, features, and services remain synchronized with customer access.

"Billing and access data have been split across two systems for so long that most teams treat it as normal. It isn't," said Branden Jenkins, chief executive officer at Maxio. "AI and usage-based pricing made that split impossible to ignore. Revenue models now mix subscriptions, usage, and one-time charges in the same contract, and most companies are still running systems built for a single, simple model. Entitlements makes Maxio your single source of truth for what a customer bought and what they can do with it. No more hoping your systems agree. They're one system now."

Entitlement Query API Delivers Unified Customer Access Data

At the core of the release is the Entitlement Query API, which returns a structured overview of everything a customer is entitled to access across products and add-ons.

The API supports three primary entitlement categories:

  • Access rights that enable or disable features based on subscription plans.
  • Usage limits that define numerical consumption caps and reset intervals.
  • Service rights covering benefits such as SLA tiers and Customer Success Manager (CSM) assignments.

When customers subscribe to multiple products or add-ons, the API consolidates all entitlements into a single response while maintaining traceability to their originating subscription.

Expanding Maxio's Revenue Management Platform

Entitlements becomes part of Maxio's broader monetization infrastructure, joining its Metering capabilities and the upcoming Wallets solution planned for Fall 2026.

Together, these capabilities are intended to provide SaaS and AI companies with real-time visibility into customer purchases, available product access, usage consumption, and remaining stored value, helping organizations better manage increasingly sophisticated recurring revenue models.
