Next-Gen Currency Project Team to Explore Digital Assets for Money Movement

While digital assets like stablecoins and tokenized deposits are gaining popularity and acceptance, many questions remain about implications for payments. The new project team will address those questions as critical work for the industry.

"While digital assets like stablecoins and tokenized deposits are gaining popularity and acceptance, there are also many questions. That's one of the things making this project team so critical," said Jane Larimer, Nacha President and CEO. "The team has essential work ahead as it looks into the potential implications digital assets might have for all types of payments, as well as tracking developments on the regulatory front."

Creating educational resources will be key goal as team works to bridge divide between digital assets and more traditional payment methods.

"Digital assets are still new, and the more educational resources available to the payments industry, the better," said Molly Woodman, Senior Policy Advisor, Digital Sovereignty Alliance, and Project Team Co-Leader. "Creating those resources will be a key goal of this team as we work to bridge the divide between digital assets and more traditional payment methods."

As membership organization, Nacha's Payments Innovation Alliance brings together diverse, global stakeholders to grow and advance future payment trends, collaborate, and provide solutions.
