Vusion Expands Connected Commerce Strategy

Vusion has entered into an agreement to acquire In-Store Media (ISM), a global in-store retail media specialist with operations spanning Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific. The acquisition aligns with Vusion's long-term vision of turning physical retail stores into connected digital commerce hubs that combine AI-powered technologies with measurable retail media capabilities.

The company believes physical stores represent the next major opportunity for retail media growth, as the majority of purchasing decisions continue to take place inside stores despite the rapid expansion of digital commerce.

Retail Media Moves Beyond Online Channels

Retail media has emerged as one of the fastest-growing revenue streams for retailers over the past several years, with much of its growth centered on digital commerce platforms. Vusion now aims to extend those advertising capabilities into brick-and-mortar environments.

By integrating ISM's expertise in retail media planning, deployment, and monetization with Vusion's connected store technologies, retailers will be able to create measurable advertising experiences that connect brands with shoppers at the point of purchase.

In-Store Media Brings Global Retail Advertising Expertise

Founded in Barcelona, In-Store Media has built an extensive retail media business serving 90 retail banners and more than 1,600 brands across nine countries throughout EMEA, the Americas, and APAC.

The company offers a portfolio of more than 50 print and digital advertising solutions, helping retailers monetize in-store traffic while providing brands with targeted shopper engagement opportunities.

During 2025, ISM generated approximately €120 million in revenue while maintaining strong profitability, reinforcing its position as a leading in-store retail media provider.

Creating a Digital In-Store Media Platform

The proposed acquisition would allow Vusion to expand its connected commerce platform by combining digital shelf technologies with retail advertising capabilities.

The integrated platform is expected to enable retailers to:

  • Monetize physical store traffic through digital retail media.
  • Strengthen partnerships with consumer brands.
  • Deliver real-time shopper engagement inside stores.
  • Measure advertising performance alongside purchase outcomes.
  • Create new revenue streams beyond traditional retail operations.

Together, the companies aim to build a scalable platform that connects retailers, advertisers, and consumers through AI-powered digital store experiences.

Executive Perspectives on the Acquisition

"The next big digital media is the physical store" said Thierry Gadou, Chairman and CEO of Vusion. "Retail media has already transformed the economics of online commerce. The next frontier is in stores, where most shopper traffic remains and decisions of purchase are made. By combining Vusion's connected store platform with In-Store Media's track record, execution capabilities, and relationships with retailers and brands, we are helping retailers turn store traffic into measurable media value, new revenue streams, and more engaging shopper experiences in stores."

"In-Store Media has developed itself by helping retailers and brands activate the full potential of physical stores" said Fernando de Vicente, CEO of In-Store Media. "Joining Vusion would allow us to accelerate this mission with the technology, scale, and global footprint required to digitize in-store retail media at a new level. Together, our companies will support retailers in generating additional value from their foot traffic while creating better, more relevant experiences for shoppers."

Transaction Details

The proposed transaction has received approval from Vusion's Board of Directors. Completion remains subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions and is expected to be financed through debt.

GBS Finance, Mizuho Greenhill, and Baker McKenzie advised In-Store Media as financial and legal advisors, while JP Morgan and White & Case served as financial and legal advisors to Vusion.
