As organizations accelerate AI adoption, consistent and interoperable data definitions have become essential for building reliable analytics and intelligent applications. Solid has announced its participation in the Open Semantic Interchange (OSI) initiative, an open-source effort focused on creating a universal, vendor-neutral semantic model specification that enables seamless data interoperability across enterprise platforms.

Solid Joins Open Semantic Interchange Initiative

Solid has announced that it is joining the Open Semantic Interchange (OSI), an open-source initiative created to standardize fragmented enterprise data definitions through a universal, vendor-neutral semantic model specification.

The initiative is designed to improve interoperability between business intelligence, analytics, AI, machine learning, and data management platforms by enabling organizations to share consistent semantic metadata across different tools and environments.

Building a Common Semantic Standard for Enterprise AI

OSI is led by Snowflake alongside ecosystem partners representing business intelligence, data governance, data engineering, artificial intelligence, financial services, manufacturing, and other industries.

The initiative's primary objective is to establish an open, vendor-agnostic specification for semantic metadata that enables organizations to maintain consistent business metrics and definitions across dashboards, notebooks, machine learning models, and AI applications.

By standardizing semantic data, OSI aims to reduce operational complexity while enabling broader adoption of AI and business intelligence technologies.

"By joining the Open Semantic Interchange, Solid is committed to the creation of a universal standard that simplifies data operations and accelerates innovation for the broader ecosystem," said Yoni Leitersdorf, CEO & Co-Founder, Solid. "Our participation ensures that semantic context can automatically move seamlessly across AI agents, data warehouses, BI tools, and analytics platforms - enabling organizations to build reliable AI systems on top of a shared, interoperable understanding of their business, without vendor lock-in."

Advancing Semantic Interoperability Across the Data Ecosystem

As a member of OSI, Solid will contribute to developing a transparent, community-driven framework for semantic model sharing. The initiative is intended to ensure that organizations can maintain consistent business definitions regardless of the analytics, AI, or data management tools they use.

The standardized semantic model is expected to support improved collaboration, more accurate analytics, and easier sharing of enterprise data products while reducing dependence on proprietary platforms.

Supporting the Next Generation of AI Applications

According to Snowflake, establishing a shared semantic foundation is becoming increasingly important as organizations deploy AI-powered analytics and autonomous AI agents across enterprise environments.

"Unlocking the full potential of data and AI requires a common foundation, and the Open Semantic Interchange is the critical step in building that bedrock," said Josh Klahr, Director of Analytics Product Management at Snowflake. "Our collaboration with partners like Solid establishes a unified, vendor-neutral standard for semantic data, ensuring clarity and consistency across the entire ecosystem. This initiative is essential for simplifying data operations, fostering innovation, and preparing organizations to build the next generation of AI applications."

The Open Semantic Interchange initiative aims to provide organizations with greater flexibility to integrate AI, analytics, and business intelligence platforms while creating a consistent semantic foundation that supports future-ready enterprise data infrastructure.

About Solid

Solid is the AI-native context layer for enterprise AI, automatically creating, evaluating, and maintaining the semantic context AI agents need to understand and act on business data reliably. Unlike legacy semantic layers built for dashboards and manual modeling, Solid continuously benchmarks accuracy, detects data changes, and keeps AI systems aligned as the business evolves. The result is faster deployment of trusted AI agents, workflows, and analytics across any data warehouse or AI platform.
