Polar's browser is built to operate websites similarly to a human user by clicking, typing, navigating pages, and interacting with web applications where users are already authenticated. Rather than limiting AI assistance to search or summarization, the platform is designed to complete multi-step workflows that may take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.
According to the company, Polar has successfully completed browser tasks lasting more than fifteen consecutive hours without requiring user intervention.
"Almost all knowledge work runs through the browser, and until now nothing could do that work for you," said Kevin Jiang, co-founder and CEO of Polar. "We built Polar to take the busywork off people's plates, on the sites they already use, so they can spend their time on the parts of the job that need a person."
Since launch, users have executed more than 4.5 million browser actions through Polar across functions including research, recruiting, sales, operations, and marketing. The company also states that its browser agent delivers stronger performance than competing AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic on browser-agent benchmarks.
Polar was founded by Kevin Jiang, Vishaal Ram, and Howard Zhong, whose backgrounds include experience at MIT, Perplexity, and quantitative investment firms.
Madrona led the funding round, citing the browser as the primary workspace for today's knowledge workers and highlighting the opportunity for AI agents capable of independently completing complex online tasks.
"Engineers got a transformative moment from tools like Claude Code, and most knowledge workers are still waiting for theirs," said Sabrina Albert of Madrona, who led the investment. "Their work lives in the browser, and Kevin, Vishaal, and Howard built the first agent that can operate there. That is why we led the round."
