Forcepoint has appointed John Sorensen as its new Senior Vice President of Americas Sales. The seasoned cybersecurity sales leader, who previously held a global sales strategy role at Forcepoint, will be responsible for driving field execution, partner engagement, and customer alignment to accelerate adoption of the company's AI-native data security solutions across enterprise and government markets.
Forcepoint appoints cybersecurity sales veteran John Sorensen as SVP of Americas Sales.
Sorensen previously held roles at Forcepoint, Entrust, Symantec, RSA, and McAfee.
He will focus on scaling Forcepoint's Self-Aware Data Security platform in the Americas region.
The hire aims to address the growing "visibility-to-control gap" in data security.
Forcepoint's approach uses AI to understand data context, intent, and risk for automated protection.
Sorensen will report to Rick Hanson, President of Go-to-Market at Forcepoint.
Sorensen joins at a time when Forcepoint is promoting its Self-Aware Data Security approach, an AI-native framework designed to close the gap between detecting data risk and automatically enforcing protection. His mandate is to align the Americas sales organization with this vision, helping customers navigate the complexities of protecting data across cloud, SaaS, endpoint, and AI-driven workflows. “Forcepoint is reshaping how leaders think about data security,” said Sorensen.
Sorensen brings over three decades of security and technology sales leadership. His most recent role was Vice President of Global Sales for Data Security at Entrust. Crucially, he also brings prior Forcepoint experience, having served as the company’s Vice President of Global Sales Strategy and Execution in the past. This internal familiarity is expected to provide continuity and accelerate his impact. His career also includes executive sales roles at major security firms like Symantec, RSA Security, and McAfee.
The appointment addresses a core challenge Forcepoint identifies in the market: the widening "visibility-to-control gap." As sensitive data moves fluidly through AI tools, collaboration apps, and cloud services, traditional security often cannot respond quickly enough to prevent exposure. Forcepoint's Data Security Cloud aims to use AI for deep discovery, classification, and risk scoring to translate visibility into precise, automated control under a single policy framework.
Reporting to President of Go-to-Market Rick Hanson, Sorensen will be tasked with strengthening partner engagement and ensuring the sales organization is closely aligned with customer priorities. His experience in channel expansion and leading high-performing sales teams will be leveraged to scale Forcepoint's momentum in the Americas region as organizations reassess their data protection strategies in the AI era.
This executive appointment underscores Forcepoint's focus on leveraging seasoned go-to-market leadership to capture market share as demand grows for integrated, AI-driven solutions to manage data risk across complex modern environments.
