The browser has become the primary workspace for many employees, creating new security challenges for IT teams. To address this, Citrix has significantly deepened its strategic partnership with Google, announcing a native integration between its Zero Trust access solution and the Chrome browser to deliver policy enforcement and data security directly where work happens.
Citrix announces a deep integration between Citrix Secure Private Access and Google Chrome Enterprise Premium.
The solution embeds real-time policy enforcement and threat protection natively in the browser.
It provides in-browser Data Loss Protection (DLP) for actions like copy, paste, and downloads.
Access is contextual, based on user identity, device posture, and session risk.
The integration requires no additional agents, VPNs, or VDI, offering a friction-free user experience.
It is designed to secure work on both managed and unmanaged devices in a hybrid work model.
This collaboration is a direct response to the shift of the workday into the browser, where traditional security tools like VPNs and endpoint agents are no longer sufficient. The integration positions the Chrome browser itself as a policy enforcement point, enabling security teams to apply Zero Trust principles directly to user interactions with SaaS, internal web, and legacy applications. This approach protects data at the point of interaction, regardless of the device being used or the user's location.
The integrated solution delivers several critical security functions without disrupting user workflow. It enables in-browser Data Loss Protection (DLP) to control actions like copying, pasting, and file uploads/downloads. Real-time threat protection is powered by Google Safe Browsing, and access policies are dynamically applied based on contextual factors like user identity and device posture. A key benefit is that it provides seamless, secure access without requiring a VPN, VDI, or any additional agents on the device.
“The browser has become the new enterprise endpoint, and with this integration, we’re embedding our Zero Trust security right where work happens,” said Sridhar Mullapudi, Co-President, Citrix. “This launch allows organizations to protect data and users at the point of interaction—regardless of device or location.”
“Citrix and Google share a clear vision: the browser should not only be a productivity tool but also a policy enforcement point,” said Raghu Nandan, Director of Products, Google. “Together, we’re enabling enterprises to adopt scalable, user-friendly security that meets the demands of hybrid work.”
This partnership provides a powerful answer to the security complexities of the modern, hybrid enterprise, offering a scalable way to protect sensitive data and applications without compromising the user experience on managed or unmanaged devices.
