Bedrock Data (formerly Bedrock Security) announced the general availability of its Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server on August 5, 2025, enabling secure, context-aware agentic AI workflows. Integrated with Bedrock’s Metadata Lake, the MCP Server provides enterprises with self-governing AI systems and AI-powered security operations, alongside a new partnership with Panther for enhanced security monitoring.

  • Bedrock Data MCP Server is now generally available for AI governance.

  • Enables self-governing AI agents using Metadata Lake for data context.

  • Integrates with Panther to improve alert prioritization and reduce false positives.

  • Supports workflows with Splunk, Vanta, Wiz, and Okta for ecosystem security.

  • Accelerates incident response with AI-driven metadata intelligence.

  • Reduces investigation times with context-aware threat detection.

Self-Governing AI Agents

The MCP Server enables agentic AI systems to self-govern by leveraging Bedrock’s Metadata Lake, which provides data context like classifications, lineage, and entitlements. This ensures AI agents handle sensitive data according to enterprise policies, automatically adapting to changes in data classifications or access rules. For example, agents can refuse to process customer data if prohibited, streamlining governance without additional agents. Pranava Adduri, CTO of Bedrock Data, noted, “The MCP Server gives enterprises a way to govern how AI agents and operators access data – enabling safe, controlled deployment of agents across their environments.”

Panther Integration for Security Operations

The partnership with Panther, a cloud-native security monitoring platform, enhances security operations centers (SOCs) by enriching alerts with Bedrock’s data context, including sensitivity and regulatory mappings. This reduces false positives and prioritizes high-risk alerts, enabling faster incident response. Jack Naglieri, Panther’s CTO, stated, “By utilizing AI agents to reach into Panther’s analysis capabilities and Bedrock’s data context, security teams can make informed decisions in half the time.” Key use cases include:

  • Unencrypted RDS Detection: Panther flags an unencrypted RDS instance, and Bedrock identifies it as containing PII, prioritizing remediation.

  • IAM Misconfiguration: Bedrock reveals access to regulated HR data, escalating vague alerts into actionable risks.

  • Privilege Escalation: Bedrock tracks data accessed post-escalation, accelerating root cause analysis.

Broader Ecosystem Integration

The MCP Server integrates with tools like Splunk (SIEM), Vanta (compliance), Wiz (CNAPP), and Okta (identity), embedding data risk context into enterprise workflows. This ensures comprehensive governance across AI ecosystems, supporting secure and compliant operations. Krista Case from The Futurum Group emphasized, “The integrity and availability of the models these MCP servers support rely on proper classification and governance of sensitive data.”

Future-Proofing AI Security

Built on Bedrock’s patented Metadata Lake technology, the MCP Server provides continuous visibility into data location, sensitivity, and usage across SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and AI workflows. This empowers organizations to deploy AI confidently while managing risks. The platform’s AI-driven Copilot further accelerates investigations by enabling natural language queries like “Does this identity access PHI?” directly within workflows.

About Bedrock Data

Bedrock Data equips enterprises to secure and manage all of their data with confidence. Powered by patented Metadata Lake technology and AI-driven classification, the Bedrock platform provides continuous visibility into data location, sensitivity, business context, access and usage across SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and agentic AI workflows. By autonomously discovering, classifying and contextualizing all enterprise data, Bedrock Data empowers security, governance and data teams to tackle security, roll out AI technologies with confidence and manage their data at multi-petabyte scale and minimal infrastructure cost. Bedrock Data’s open, API-first architecture, built on its Metadata Lake, powers its built-in MCP Server to deliver real-time metadata context to agentic AI workflows, driving accurate, governed AI decisions.

About Panther

Panther is the security monitoring platform for the cloud. Unlike ‘next-gen’ SIEMs that rely on historical detections, rigid query languages, and closed ecosystems, Panther enables flexible monitoring in production environments with streaming data analysis, programmable workflows, and seamless cloud integration – empowering teams to optimize costs and control, accelerate incident response, and achieve cross-system visibility at scale.
