Leadership Appointment

On July 16, 2025, Thrive announced Nicholas J. Smolansky as its Chief Legal Officer, tasked with overseeing legal, compliance, and government affairs. Smolansky’s appointment aligns with Thrive’s aggressive growth, including its ranking as #10 in the Boston Business Journal’s 2025 Fast 50. With over two decades of experience, Smolansky previously served as CLO at Transfix Inc., where he scaled the legal team and co-developed a strategy for a planned IPO via a SPAC merger. Bill McLaughlin, CEO of Thrive, stated: “Nick has lived this vision in past roles, and I know he will bring the same enthusiasm to our executive team.”

Strategic Role and Expertise

Smolansky brings extensive expertise in managing complex transactions, legal affairs, and human resources, having served as VP and Deputy General Counsel at Advance and VP and Chief Counsel, M&A at Time Warner Cable Inc. He began his career at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison LLP and holds a J.D. from George Washington University Law School (2001) and a B.A. from Connecticut College (1997). Smolansky noted: “Thrive is unmatched when it comes to its quality of services, depth of knowledge, and strategic vision for the industry.”

Thrive’s Growth and Leadership Expansion

Thrive has strengthened its leadership team since November 2024, appointing Bill McLaughlin as CEO, Ben Reich as CFO, Kristina O’Connell as CMO, and Kimberly Saturley as CPO. This follows strategic acquisitions like Abacode, a cybersecurity firm, in July 2025, and the launch of a Compliance Center. Thrive’s NextGen platform leverages AI, automation, and scalability to deliver cybersecurity, cloud, and IT managed services, serving mid-market clients globally with 24/7 SOC and NOC teams.

Market Context and Outlook

The global managed services market is projected to reach $380 billion by 2028, driven by demand for AI-powered cybersecurity and cloud solutions. Thrive’s focus on mid-market enterprises, combined with its acquisitions and leadership hires, positions it to capitalize on this growth. Posts on X reflect positive sentiment, with @CorpCounsel highlighting Thrive’s “record year” and leadership expansion. However, competition from firms like Accenture and Cognizant remains intense.

Smolansky’s appointment strengthens Thrive’s ability to navigate legal complexities and drive strategic growth, reinforcing its position as a leading MSP/MSSP in the technology outsourcing sector.
