The Software for Open Networking in the Cloud (SONiC) Foundation, an open-source network operating system (NOS) under the Linux Foundation, has strengthened its global ecosystem by adding seven new members and announcing a dynamic presence at Open Source Summit Europe 2025 in Amsterdam. This growth underscores SONiC’s leadership in delivering scalable, open networking solutions for cloud, AI, and data center environments.
SONiC adds seven members, expanding to 36 organizations globally.
New members include Juniper Networks, Aureka, and University of Rome.
Open Source Summit Europe 2025 features SONiC demos and Mini Summit.
Mini Summit includes 10 talks on SRv6, AI networking, and scalability.
SONiC drives open, disaggregated networking for cloud and AI.
Live demos highlight real-world applications in hyperscale data centers.
SONiC’s membership has grown to 36 organizations with the addition of General Members Aureka, iA cloud, Juniper Networks, Larch Networks, PANTHEON.tech, and Sumitomo Electric Industries, alongside Associate Member University of Rome Tor Vergata. These members bring expertise in networking, cloud, AI infrastructure, and academia, enhancing SONiC’s mission to deliver a robust, open NOS. “We’re thrilled to welcome our new members to the SONiC community,” said Arpit Joshipura, senior vice president and general manager, Networking, Edge and IoT at the Linux Foundation. “The diversity of backgrounds and technical leadership are key to accelerating open, disaggregated networking at scale.”
From August 25-27, 2025, SONiC will engage attendees at Open Source Summit Europe in Amsterdam with live demonstrations and a SONiC Mini Summit on August 28. The Mini Summit features 10 expert-led sessions on SRv6, AI-driven networking, observability, and large-scale deployments. Live demos will showcase real-world applications in cloud, AI, edge, and hyperscale data centers, reinforcing SONiC’s role in next-generation networking. “SONiC is rapidly becoming the Linux for modern networking, providing a crucial, unified open platform that abstracts diverse hardware,” said Subhachandra Chandra, CTO, Aureka Inc.
New members are poised to advance SONiC’s ecosystem. “iA cloud is pleased to join as a new member of the SONiC Foundation and looks forward to making substantial contributions to the development of advanced network infrastructure technologies for AI services,” said Seungeui Jin, CEO, iA cloud. Similarly, Larch Networks emphasized, “We are proud to contribute to the SONiC ecosystem and support open standards that deliver flexibility and scalability for next-generation networks,” said Alex Cheskis, CEO, Larch Networks. These contributions will drive innovation in AI and cloud networking.
SONiC’s focus on open, disaggregated networking aligns with the growing demand for flexible, scalable solutions in cloud and AI infrastructures. “At PANTHEON.tech, we’ve been building networking software for over 20 years… we’re excited to officially join the SONiC Foundation and be part of its growing community,” said Miroslav Mikluš, Chief Product Officer, PANTHEON.tech. With its expanded membership and active engagement at Open Source Summit Europe, SONiC is well-positioned to lead the future of open-source networking.
SONiC’s growing ecosystem and innovative showcases at Open Source Summit Europe 2025 highlight its pivotal role in transforming network operating systems. By fostering collaboration across industries, SONiC continues to drive scalable, open solutions for global enterprises.
