On Tuesday, August 5, Keepit and CyberRisk Alliance (CRA) will co-host an invite-only VIP dinner, featuring a session titled “Corporate Espionage: Lessons from a Retired CIA Insider.” Glenn Corn, a retired Senior Executive and Operations Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency, will share insights into how adversaries exploit trust and human behavior to target employees with access to sensitive data. “Most security teams are laser-focused on cyberattacks and infrastructure vulnerabilities — and rightly so — but corporate espionage isn’t a Cold War relic. It’s alive and well, and we see adversaries exploiting SaaS services and insider access every day,” said Kim Larsen, Keepit’s Chief Information Security Officer. Larsen, with experience in Danish intelligence and NATO, will follow with practical countermeasures to protect data and mitigate insider threats.
On Wednesday, August 6, from 12:00 to 12:20 p.m. in Business Hall Theater D, Keepit will present “Red Team Tales and SaaS Strategies for Immutable Cloud Recovery.” Bart Binder, Red Team Manager and Cybersecurity Analyst, will reconstruct a cloud-breach scenario, demonstrating how attackers target backups and how immutable storage disrupts these attacks. Niels van Ingen, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategy, will discuss SaaS-backup architectures designed for resilience. “Immutability is just the start,” said van Ingen. “True resilience means retaining control of your data — before, during, and after an attack — and that control has to be intentional, auditable, and independent of your production systems.”
Also on August 6, van Ingen will join a recorded interview in the Dark Reading Newsroom, addressing the limitations of relying on SaaS providers’ built-in tools and shared-responsibility models. He will highlight why vendor-independent, cloud-native backups are essential for maintaining data access during outages, malicious attacks, or errors, emphasizing Keepit’s unique approach to data protection.
On Thursday, August 7, from 2:40 to 3:00 p.m. in Business Hall Theater B, van Ingen will deliver “Keeping Your Cloud(s) Secure,” part of the Dark Reading program. This session will explore securing hybrid and multi-cloud environments against misconfigurations and third-party app vulnerabilities. “Data is no longer in one place — and neither are your risks,” said van Ingen, offering practical guidance for robust security policies in distributed IT ecosystems.
