German enterprises are adopting SD-WAN to simplify operations and enhance network adaptability, avoiding costly hardware replacements. “SD-WANs are increasingly seen as crucial for digital advancement among German companies,” said Jon Harrod, partner and network advisory lead at ISG. The technology supports centralized cloud-based management, automates network functions, and provides real-time analytics, streamlining resource management. The report notes Germany’s position as one of the largest consumers of SD-WAN solutions, driven by a robust provider ecosystem and the need for standardized, scalable networking for global operations.
A key factor in SD-WAN’s adoption is its ability to facilitate seamless cloud and multicloud transitions with minimal disruptions. “German companies that use advanced edge computing and 5G technology services benefit from the seamless and secure integration that software-defined networking offers,” said Dr. Kenn Walters, global principal lead analyst at ISG. SDN solutions enable secure data transfer across platforms and simplify the deployment of cloud-native technologies. Additionally, SD-WAN integrates advanced security features like encryption and threat detection, often within Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) frameworks, addressing the growing cybersecurity demands of German enterprises.
The ISG report evaluates 39 providers across four quadrants: Managed SD-WAN Services, SD-Networks Transformation Services, Edge Technologies and Services (including Private 5G), and SASE. Leaders in all quadrants include Accenture, Deutsche Telekom, Logicalis, Orange Business, and Wipro, with Computacenter and Vodafone leading in three. HCLTech was named the 2025 ISG CX Star Performer for highest customer satisfaction. The report also highlights trends like usage-based pricing among SMEs and SD-WAN integration with SASE in larger enterprises, reflecting Germany’s diverse market needs.
