As autonomous threats continue to evolve across defense, homeland security, and critical infrastructure, organizations are seeking integrated platforms that combine advanced sensing with AI-assisted decision-making. WRAP has introduced WrapShield, an autonomous defense and public safety platform designed to connect threat detection, AI-assisted decision support, and response technologies into a unified operating architecture. The platform debuts with advanced thermal-polarimetric sensing for counter-unmanned aircraft systems (Counter-UAS) and is designed to expand across a wide range of AI-enabled security applications.
WrapShield represents WRAP's transition from a provider of non-lethal public safety technologies to a platform company focused on integrating advanced sensing, artificial intelligence, command-and-control systems, and response technologies. The platform is intended to help government agencies connect existing and future security technologies into a unified ecosystem capable of detecting threats earlier and coordinating appropriate responses.
To establish the platform's detection capabilities, WRAP announced a strategic investment in Frenel Imaging Ltd., an Israeli advanced-sensing company. As part of the agreement, WRAP secured exclusive U.S. and NATO commercialization rights to Frenel's proprietary TPiCore® thermal-polarimetric imaging technology, which becomes the first sensing layer for WrapShield.
Unlike conventional thermal cameras that primarily detect infrared intensity, TPiCore® captures the polarization of thermal radiation, enabling more detailed identification of an object's physical characteristics and material composition. According to WRAP, this capability can improve the detection of RF-silent drones and other autonomous threats that traditional radio frequency-based systems may miss.
WrapShield is built around three operational layers that work together to improve situational awareness and response:
While the initial deployment focuses on countering unmanned aircraft systems, WRAP plans to extend WrapShield across defense, public safety, homeland security, border protection, and critical infrastructure. The company also expects Frenel to be the first of several strategic investments supporting future platform capabilities as autonomous security technologies continue to evolve.
"WrapShield represents our long-term vision for the future of defense and public safety."
"We're beginning with one of the most urgent operational challenges facing the world today – countering the rapidly growing threat posed by unmanned aircraft systems. As asymmetric threats become more accessible to lone actors and sophisticated adversaries alike, our customers need platform-level solutions that match the speed, scale, and economics of the threat. WrapShield is our answer: an autonomous platform that is designed to enable earlier detection, AI-assisted decision support, and integration with the response technologies our customers trust. Frenel's advanced thermal polarimetric sensing technology is the first building block in what we believe will become a foundational platform for the next generation of defense and public safety."
The launch of WrapShield reflects the growing demand for integrated AI-powered defense platforms capable of addressing increasingly sophisticated autonomous threats. By combining advanced sensing, AI-assisted decision support, and scalable response capabilities, WRAP aims to help government agencies strengthen security across defense, homeland security, public safety, and critical infrastructure environments.
