Vodafone Business and Google Cloud have announced a significant expansion of their strategic partnership, introducing two innovative solutions designed specifically for small-and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). This collaboration focuses on equipping smaller enterprises with advanced cybersecurity and agentic AI capabilities that were previously often reserved for larger corporations. The move marks a critical step in the decade-long, billion-dollar agreement established between the two tech giants in late 2024.
Vodafone Business and Google Cloud expand their partnership to provide SMBs with advanced cybersecurity and agentic AI.
A new Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service, powered by Google Security Operations, will launch first in Germany.
The Vodafone Business AI Concierge, built on Google Gemini, offers autonomous multi-modal support for voice and data.
AI Concierge assists SMBs with lead management, inquiry handling, and appointment booking to ensure 24/7 engagement.
The initiative is part of a 10-year, $1 billion strategic partnership signed in October 2024.
Initial rollouts are focused on European markets, including Germany and Greece, with further expansion planned.
The partnership introduces a next-generation managed detection and response (MDR) service. Enabled by Google Security Operations, this solution is tailored to protect SMBs from the rising frequency and sophistication of global cyber threats. By integrating Google's global security analytics and AI-driven threat intelligence with Vodafone’s localized expertise in the European market, the service allows businesses to identify and mitigate digital threats in real-time. The initial launch will take place in Germany, ensuring compliance with strict regional data protection standards, followed by a broader European rollout later this year.
In addition to security enhancements, Vodafone is debuting the "Vodafone Business AI Concierge" powered by Google Gemini. This represents the first entry in a planned suite of agentic AI solutions. Built on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, the AI Concierge is a multi-modal agent capable of handling both voice and data autonomously.
Utilizing Vodafone’s low-latency connectivity, the tool engages naturally with customers to answer questions and schedule appointments. This automation allows SMB owners in Germany and Greece to maintain customer interactions outside of standard business hours, ensuring no lead is missed while freeing up internal resources for high-value growth activities.
This expansion is a primary milestone in the $1 billion strategic partnership announced in October 2024. The collaboration is designed to accelerate digital transformation across Europe and Africa by merging Vodafone's extensive network reach with Google Cloud's AI and security infrastructure.
"Vodafone Business is helping millions of SMBs unlock the power of AI without the complexity or risk," said Fanan Henriques, Vodafone Business Product and International Business Director. "By combining our network and support with Google Cloud's AI expertise, we're making advanced, secure AI practical for everyday business use – starting with innovations like AI Concierge, one of the first telephony integrations with Gemini."
Oliver Parker, vice president, global generative AI, Google Cloud, added: "Small businesses are the backbone of the global economy, yet they are often the most underserved when it comes to cutting-edge tech. Together with Vodafone Business, we are changing that. By combining our Gemini models and enterprise-grade security expertise with Vodafone's deep connectivity and customer reach, we are giving SMBs the tools they need to stay protected and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape."
The ongoing partnership continues to focus on making enterprise-grade technology accessible and practical for smaller organizations navigating a rapidly changing digital environment.
