Varonis Systems, Inc., a leader in data security, has acquired SlashNext, an AI-native email security provider renowned for its industry-leading detection of phishing and social engineering attacks. This strategic move enhances Varonis’ ability to protect organizations from advanced cyber threats originating in email and collaboration platforms.
Varonis Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRNS) has acquired SlashNext, a leader in AI-driven email security, to strengthen its data security platform. Founded by Atif Mushtaq, a key architect of FireEye’s malware sandbox technology, SlashNext leverages predictive AI to combat advanced phishing and social engineering attacks across email, WhatsApp, Slack, and Teams. “The acquisition of SlashNext is a natural evolution of our platform and significantly expands our total addressable market,” said Yaki Faitelson, CEO, and Co-Founder of Varonis.
SlashNext’s platform uses advanced techniques like computer vision, natural language processing, and virtual browsers to achieve a 99% detection accuracy, with a perfect 100% detection rate for business email compromise (BEC) and QR code attacks, as validated by the Tolly Group. “At SlashNext, we built a fast, automated solution to stop advanced threats across communication channels,” said Atif Mushtaq, Founder and CPO of SlashNext. This acquisition enables Varonis to integrate these capabilities into its Managed Data Detection and Response (MDDR) service, offering end-to-end protection.
The email security market is projected to grow from $5.2 billion in 2025 to $10.7 billion by 2032, driven by the rise of AI-powered phishing and BEC attacks. SlashNext’s technology addresses this challenge by identifying and neutralizing threats in real-time, protecting users from sophisticated attacks that exploit communication channels. By combining SlashNext’s email security with Varonis’ data-centric approach, organizations gain a robust defense against breaches originating in inboxes.
Varonis has updated its 2025 financial guidance to reflect the acquisition’s incremental expenses while maintaining its free cash flow outlook of $120.0-$125.0 million. For Q3 2025, Varonis expects revenues of $163.0-$168.0 million (10-13% year-over-year growth) and full-year revenues of $616.0-$628.0 million (12-14% growth). This acquisition positions Varonis to capitalize on the expanding email security market while enhancing its comprehensive threat detection offerings.
Varonis’ acquisition of SlashNext strengthens its position as a leader in data security, addressing the critical need for advanced email protection in an AI-driven threat landscape. By integrating SlashNext’s technology, Varonis empowers organizations to prevent data breaches and enhance security across communication channels.
