Tanium has unveiled a suite of autonomous security capabilities for its Autonomous IT Platform at Black Hat USA 2026. The new innovations span agentic AI, exposure management, and security operations, helping IT and security teams detect, prioritize, and remediate cyber threats at machine speed while maintaining governance and operational control.
The announcement expands the capabilities of Tanium Atlas, the company's autonomous operating system, enabling organizations to address increasingly sophisticated AI-driven cyber threats with real-time endpoint intelligence and autonomous workflows.

Tanium has announced several new autonomous security capabilities designed to strengthen enterprise cybersecurity against AI-accelerated threats. The latest enhancements extend the Tanium Autonomous IT Platform across three strategic areas—agentic AI, exposure management, and security operations—providing organizations with unified visibility and automated response capabilities.
According to the company, the platform enables IT and security teams to move from detection to remediation more efficiently while maintaining governance over AI-driven actions.
"At Black Hat USA 2026, vendors will be talking about AI agents and tools. What fewer will acknowledge is that ungoverned agents are themselves an emerging attack surface," said Harman Kaur, chief technology officer at Tanium. "Tanium is the platform that governs and manages them with Tanium Atlas — where every action is auditable, boundaries are enforced, and everything is grounded in what's actually happening on the endpoint right now. What we are introducing at the conference extends that same principle across the full lifecycle from external exposure to detection to remediation."
Tanium Atlas, the autonomous operating system powering the platform, now includes several AI-driven capabilities aimed at accelerating IT and security operations.
Agentic Performance Analysis enables operators to identify the root cause of endpoint performance issues through AI-powered analysis, significantly reducing manual troubleshooting. Background AI Agents proactively identify operational issues before users initiate requests, while Tanium Automate now supports endpoint-level sequence execution and expanded API integrations for orchestrated automation.
The company also introduced the Tanium Atlas MCP Server, allowing approved Tanium data and actions to be securely accessed through Model Context Protocol-compatible AI assistants, including Claude, Microsoft Security Copilot, and Copilot Studio.
To address growing external attack surfaces, Tanium unveiled two new exposure management capabilities.
External Attack Surface Management combines internet-facing asset discovery with endpoint intelligence to provide continuous visibility across hosts, services, web applications, and digital certificates. Attack Path Mapping enables organizations to visualize how exposed assets could be leveraged by attackers to reach critical internal systems, helping security teams prioritize remediation based on business risk rather than vulnerability volume.
These capabilities leverage Tanium's real-time endpoint intelligence to provide continuously updated risk assessments across enterprise environments.
Tanium also announced new security operations capabilities focused on proactive threat detection and investigation.
Agent-Guided Threat Hunting enables security analysts to describe investigation hypotheses in natural language while Tanium Atlas autonomously performs endpoint-wide threat hunting, analyzes live endpoint telemetry, and maps findings to the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
In addition, the company introduced a private preview of its Google Threat Intelligence integration. The integration combines intelligence from Mandiant, VirusTotal, and Google's threat intelligence ecosystem with Tanium's endpoint visibility, enabling security teams to validate indicators of compromise and rapidly respond across enterprise environments.
