NeuralTrust has introduced the Generative Application Firewall (GAF), a new architectural layer designed to protect generative AI applications as they move from experimentation to production. The GAF model is structured around five integrated layers that enable real-time detection and response:
Controls abuse through rate limiting, identity verification, permissions, and access restrictions to prevent unauthorized or excessive use.
Validates input and output formats to block encoded attacks, structural exploits, or malformed requests targeting the AI system.
Detects meaning-based threats, including jailbreaks, prompt injection, manipulation of intent, and subtle attempts to bypass safeguards.
Monitors multi-turn conversations, behavioral patterns, and escalation tactics that emerge only through sustained interaction.
Tracks long-term patterns, tool usage, decision paths, and anomalies to identify sophisticated attacks that unfold over time.
These layers enable dynamic actions such as blocking malicious inputs, redacting sensitive outputs, redirecting conversations, issuing alerts, or terminating sessions—all while preserving system performance, usability, and full auditability.

By treating generative AI as a distinct application class with its own threat model, GAF provides organizations with the infrastructure needed to deploy AI confidently in production environments.
