JumpCloud Inc. today released its latest research findings, The Agentic IAM Pulse Report: Closing the Governance Gap to Accelerate with AI. The study reveals a critical "governance gap": while 72% of organizations have successfully moved AI agents into production, a staggering 92% report serious infrastructure and security limits that prevent them from safely scaling these deployments.
The report highlights a rapid shift where AI agents are moving beyond sandbox testing into mission-critical workflows—such as financial reporting and HR provisioning—often with more system access and less oversight than human employees.
The Access Paradox: 66% of organizations grant AI agents equal or greater system access than humans; 38% grant "significantly more" access in business-critical environments.
Oversight Erosion: Human-in-the-loop (HITL) approvals drop from 48% during testing to just 29% in production.
Identity Sprawl: 53% of organizations now manage more non-human identities than human employees, with 23% reporting a ratio of 6:1 or higher.
Kill Switch Vacuum: 55% of organizations lack a centralized "kill switch" to immediately revoke AI agent access across all systems.
Accountability Gap: Only 17% of organizations have a designated security leader accountable for AI agent actions.
The report's findings underscore a fundamental shift in cybersecurity. As AI agents begin to operate autonomously across multiple applications at machine speed, traditional perimeter defenses are becoming obsolete.
"AI agent deployment has officially outrun the controls needed to manage it safely," said Joel Rennich, Senior Vice President of Product Management at JumpCloud. "Because identity is now the only perimeter left for these agents, organizations must move toward a formal governance model that treats every agent as a first-class, governed identity."
In response to these findings, JumpCloud has officially launched its Agentic IAM solution (initially announced in late April 2026). This new platform provides a unified control plane designed to:
Anchor Identities: Connect every human, non-human, and autonomous agent to a verified corporate identity.
Automated Guardrails: Manage the entire agentic lifecycle, ensuring AI remains a secure competitive advantage rather than a shadow risk.
Centralized Control: Address the "kill switch vacuum" by providing a single point of revocation for all agentic access.
