Frenos, the industry's only fully simulated AI penetration testing platform, has announced it has been recognized as a Cool Vendor in the Coolest Vendor Innovations in Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Security, 2026 report.

  • Frenos recognized as a Cool Vendor in the 2026 Gartner CPS Security report.

  • Frenos offers a Simulated OT Penetration Testing Platform.

  • The platform tests industrial environments for exploitable attack paths using a digital twin.

  • It does so without touching or disrupting actual production systems.

  • Frenos has raised $6.4 million to date.

  • The company was awarded $1.1 million from the Department of Energy's CESER.

Frenos's Simulated OT Penetration Testing Platform tests existing industrial environments for exploitable attack paths and adversary tactics using a digital twin, without ever touching or disrupting the actual production systems. This is important in today's threat environment as attackers increasingly target operational technology directly, and OT operators need a way to test their real exposure without introducing any risk of operational downtime to mission critical services their customers depend on.

Executive Perspective

"OT operators are under more pressure than ever to prove their environments can withstand an attack, not just pass an audit. After spending a decade on the defender's side of OT security, the honest truth is most OT environments have never been pen tested. Frenos exists because OT asset owners need a technology that helps them move beyond a vulnerability list to understand what is actually exploitable. In our opinion, being named a Cool Vendor tells us we're on the right track. Our job is not done yet, and we will continue to give the people running these plants something they can actually act on," said Brian Proctor, founder and CEO of Frenos.

Funding and Support

Frenos has raised $6.4 million to date, most recently through a seed extension led by Momenta and Exposition Ventures, joined by Riptide Ventures. Additionally, Frenos has been awarded $1.1 million from the Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER). These resources are supporting continued development of the Frenos platform for all critical infrastructure sectors including the federal government and defense.

About Frenos

Frenos is the industry's first fully simulated AI penetration testing platform, combining digital twin technology with an AI reasoning agent that thinks like an adversary to reveal every attack path in your OT environment, risk-free. Frenos transforms how operational technology (OT) cybersecurity teams assess the cybersecurity posture of mission-critical sites and environments, reducing assessment time from months to minutes with zero impact on operations.
