Virtuozzo, a leading provider of cloud infrastructure software for service providers, SaaS companies, and enterprises, has appointed Kurt Daniel as Chief Executive Officer. Daniel, who returns to the company with deep historical ties from its Parallels origins, will guide Virtuozzo through its next growth stage focused on platform unification, reduced complexity, and accelerated innovation in hyperconverged infrastructure, virtualization, data-sovereign storage, and application management. Current CEO Serg Bell will transition to Founder, Chairman, and Chief Constructor.
Virtuozzo announced the appointment of Kurt Daniel as Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership evolution as the company advances its mission to deliver efficient, versatile, and high-performance cloud solutions. Daniel brings extensive experience scaling platform, middleware, and infrastructure businesses, combined with intimate knowledge of Virtuozzo's foundational technology from his time at Parallels.
Daniel expressed enthusiasm for the role: “Coming back to Virtuozzo after 15 years brings my career full-circle, while over that time the company has evolved significantly. Now, we have the opportunity to bring our capabilities together in a way that reduces complexity, improves economics, and supports long-term growth for service providers, software vendors, and others building and operating cloud infrastructure and applications.”
Daniel has a distinguished history of executive leadership and value creation in technology. He has served as CEO of four companies and played instrumental roles in 12 major exits—three IPOs and nine acquisitions—collectively valued at around $100 billion. His expertise spans cloud platforms, developer ecosystems, infrastructure software, and business applications, with prior positions at Microsoft, Parallels, MongoDB, and Lumine Group companies. As an independent board member and advisor, he has guided organizations including Code Climate, Kloog (acquired by Facebook), Lightyear, and Quicksave Interactive in product strategy, go-to-market execution, operational scaling, and customer experience enhancement.
Serg Bell, who has led Virtuozzo as CEO, will continue contributing as Founder, Chairman, and Chief Constructor. Bell emphasized confidence in the transition: “Kurt is an established leader with a deep understanding of Virtuozzo’s DNA and a strong track record of building and scaling platform, middleware, and infrastructure software businesses. We share a clear vision focused on efficiency, versatility, performance, security, and reliability, especially as AI-driven demand accelerates the need for compute, storage, and networking. I have complete confidence in Kurt’s ability to lead Virtuozzo through its next phase of growth and innovation.”
Virtuozzo provides a unified cloud platform tailored for service providers, SaaS vendors, and enterprises requiring cost-effective, high-performance infrastructure. Its offerings integrate virtualization, hyperconverged infrastructure, data-sovereign storage, and application management to minimize complexity, lower total cost of ownership, and accelerate innovation. The leadership change aligns with growing market needs for streamlined, reliable solutions capable of supporting AI workloads and distributed environments.
This appointment positions Virtuozzo to strengthen its competitive edge by unifying capabilities, enhancing partner and customer experiences, and driving sustainable growth in the evolving cloud infrastructure landscape.
