The expanded partnership, initially announced in December 2023 for 33MW, now includes a 24MW capacity increase at ICE02, located near Keflavík, Iceland. The facility leverages Iceland’s abundant geothermal and hydroelectric power, low-latency networks, and redundant connectivity via undersea fiber optic cables, ensuring high performance for global customers.
The upgrade features NVIDIA’s advanced GB200 NVL72 infrastructure, Blackwell, and Hopper GPUs, optimized for generative AI workloads. The adoption of energy-efficient DLC cooling underscores both companies’ commitment to sustainability. “Our partnership with atNorth allows us to leverage Iceland’s clean energy to build energy-first AI infrastructure,” said Chase Lochmiller, Crusoe’s CEO. Eyjólfur Magnús Kristinsson, atNorth’s CEO, added, “This expansion aligns with our commitment to sustainable, AI-ready data centers.”
A $175M credit facility from Victory Park Capital supports Crusoe’s growth, enabling rapid deployment of GPU hardware to meet market demand.
The expansion strengthens Crusoe’s European strategy, complementing its U.S. partnerships with Digital Realty and Equinix, and a planned data center in Norway. The ICE02 site’s 80MW capacity (83MW at full build-out) and modular design support scalable AI workloads, addressing the $100B+ cloud computing market’s growth. atNorth’s partnerships with Nokia and 6G AI Sweden AB further highlight its focus on sustainable, high-density colocation.
Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. Crusoe provides a reliable, scalable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly solution for AI infrastructure by harnessing large-scale energy, building AI-optimized data centers, and empowering builders to reach their AI potential. Crusoe empowers its customers to build the future faster.
