  • Tata Communications will invest $152 million to expand AI-ready connectivity between India and Singapore.
  • The investment will add approximately 98 Tbps of subsea network capacity.
  • Two cable systems will connect Mumbai-Singapore and Chennai-Singapore.
  • The upgraded infrastructure is designed to support AI, cloud, enterprise, and hyperscale workloads.
  • The expansion strengthens the Tata Global Network with high-capacity, low-latency connectivity.
  • The project reinforces the India-Singapore corridor as a strategic hub for AI and digital infrastructure.

Tata Communications Expands AI-Ready Digital Infrastructure

The investment focuses on enhancing the Tata Global Network (TGN) through two major subsea cable initiatives. Tata Communications will acquire significant fiber capacity on the MIST cable system, connecting Mumbai and Singapore, while also investing as a consortium member in Project CS, a new subsea cable linking Chennai and Singapore.

Together, these projects will significantly increase network capacity between India and Southeast Asia, providing enterprises with secure, resilient, and low-latency connectivity for next-generation digital applications.

Meeting Rising AI and Cloud Connectivity Demand

The India-Singapore route has emerged as one of the region's most critical digital corridors, supporting increasing traffic from AI applications, cloud computing platforms, hyperscalers, and enterprise workloads. By adding approximately 98 Tbps of new capacity, Tata Communications aims to address the growing bandwidth requirements while improving network performance and scalability.

The company stated that the enhanced infrastructure will help organizations build resilient digital ecosystems capable of supporting AI innovation, data-intensive applications, and future enterprise growth across Asia and beyond.

Investment Timeline and Strategic Vision

The company plans to invest $63 million in the MIST cable system during FY27, with the project expected to become Ready for Service (RFS) in Q4 FY27. An additional $89 million will be invested in Project CS, which is targeted for completion in Q3 FY31.

"The India-Singapore corridor is evolving into one of the world's most strategic digital routes. By investing in AI-ready subsea infrastructure, we are strengthening the foundation for enterprises, hyperscalers, and cloud providers to scale confidently while delivering secure, resilient, and high-performance connectivity."

These investments are expected to strengthen Tata Communications' position as a global communications technology provider while enabling customers to support increasingly complex AI and cloud workloads across international markets.

The expansion underscores Tata Communications' continued investment in AI-ready digital infrastructure, positioning the company to support growing enterprise demand for secure, high-capacity connectivity between India, Singapore, and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
