Nutanix and NetApp have formed a strategic alliance to integrate NetApp Intelligent Data Infrastructure with Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP) and AHV hypervisor, enabling faster virtualization modernization, simplified operations, and enhanced cyber resilience across hybrid multicloud environments.
Nutanix and NetApp have formed a strategic alliance to deliver a modern cloud platform by integrating NetApp’s Intelligent Data Infrastructure with the Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP) solution powered by the Nutanix AHV hypervisor. This collaboration aims to help organizations accelerate and de-risk their virtualization and data strategy modernization across on-premises, cloud, and containerized environments.
The integration combines the data management strengths of NetApp ONTAP with the unified hybrid multicloud operations of Nutanix Cloud Platform. This provides customers with greater choice and flexibility to optimize storage while preparing for future containerized workloads, enabling a smoother transition from legacy virtualization setups.
An NFS-based integration between NCP and NetApp ONTAP is designed to simplify VM migration to Nutanix. Using the NetApp Shift toolkit and Nutanix Move, organizations can achieve fast data-in-place conversions of VMs in minutes, reducing complexity and accelerating operational readiness.
The joint solution offers intuitive management across NetApp ONTAP and NCP, reducing administrative overhead. By offloading data management to ONTAP, customers can independently scale compute and storage while benefiting from ONTAP’s security, performance, resiliency, and data mobility capabilities.
Customers will be able to manage virtual environments at a VM-granular level, handling performance, storage capacity, and recovery methods through a unified management view for greater precision and control.
The alliance incorporates built-in cyber resilience through NetApp ONTAP Autonomous Ransomware Protection with AI (ARP/AI) and NetApp Ransomware Resilience service. These features help detect threats and exfiltration attempts in real time, allowing enterprises to protect workloads confidently across hybrid cloud environments.
