  • Delivers up to 1 TB/s throughput with sub-millisecond latency for AI and HPC.

  • Scales from 18 TiB to 8 PiB+ with performance tiers from 125 MB/s to 1000 MB/s.

  • Integrates with Google Cloud Compute Engine, GKE, and Vertex AI platform.

  • Supports industries like finance, life sciences, and media with a 99.9% SLA.

  • Simplifies deployment via Google Cloud Console, CLI, APIs, and Terraform support.

High-Performance Storage for AI and HPC

Google Cloud Managed Lustre, built on DDN’s EXAScaler technology, offers a fully managed, POSIX-compliant parallel file system designed for AI, HPC, and data-intensive workloads. It delivers industry-leading performance with up to 1 TB/s read throughput and sub-millisecond latency, scaling seamlessly from 18 TiB to over 8 PiB. “By bringing our EXAScaler technology to Google Cloud customers as a fully managed service, we’re enabling organizations across industries to accelerate innovation without the overhead of managing complex infrastructure,” said Paul Bloch, Co-Founder and President at DDN.

Seamless Integration and Scalability

The service integrates natively with Google Cloud tools like Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), IAM, VPC Service Controls, and Vertex AI, ensuring streamlined deployment and operation. With performance tiers ranging from 125 MB/s to 1000 MB/s per TiB, organizations can tailor the system to specific needs, from AI/ML training to financial modeling and genomic analysis. “Partnering with DDN allows us to bring their industry-leading parallel file systems to Google Cloud as a deeply integrated, first-party service,” said Asad Khan, Senior Director, Product Management, Google Cloud Storage.

Industry-Wide Impact and Reliability

Google Cloud Managed Lustre supports diverse industries, including financial services, life sciences, manufacturing, public sector, and media, enabling tasks like large language model (LLM) training, risk analysis, climate research, and drug discovery. Its enterprise-grade reliability is backed by a 99.9% SLA, with features like Terraform support and a Managed CSI Driver for GKE. “I consolidated the previous storage systems into one centralized DDN storage system using a global EXAScaler Lustre file system, which can deliver the needed performance and scalability,” said Dr Alf Wachsmann, Head of DigIT Infrastructure & Scientific Computing at Helmholtz Munich.

Enhancing AI with NVIDIA Integration

The collaboration between Google Cloud and DDN leverages NVIDIA’s AI platform to maximize GPU utilization and reduce time-to-insight. “Enterprises today demand AI infrastructure that combines accelerated computing with high-performance storage solutions to deliver uncompromising speed, seamless scalability and cost efficiency at scale,” said Dave Salvator, Director of Accelerated Computing Products, NVIDIA. This integration ensures optimal performance for AI and HPC workloads, minimizing costs and boosting efficiency.

Google Cloud Managed Lustre empowers organizations to tackle complex AI and HPC challenges with a scalable, high-performance storage solution. Available globally, customers can deploy it via the Google Cloud Console or consult with Google Cloud and DDN representatives for tailored support.
