  • Global AI Defense Challenge 2025 launched on July 10 in Chongqing.

  • Focuses on AI security for images, videos, and audio technologies.

  • Offers over $120,000 USD in prizes across three competition tracks.

  • Targets deepfake threats in finance, healthcare, and daily services.

  • Features closed-loop attack and defense scenarios for real-world testing.

  • Builds on 2024’s success with over 3,200 global participants.

Addressing the Deepfake Threat

The rapid rise of large-scale AI models has transformed industries, but it has also escalated risks of deepfake-driven identity attacks. “As the rapid development of AI technologies unfolds, AI forgery techniques are advancing just as swiftly, turning this into an ever-escalating 'arms race,'” said Ma Huimin, co-chair of the Organizing Committee and Vice President of the China Society of Image and Graphics. The Global AI Defense Challenge 2025 aims to counter these risks by fostering collaboration between academia and industry to develop robust AI security solutions.

Three Tracks for AI Security Innovation

The competition features three tracks focused on securing digital identities in interactive AI processes: Image All-Factor Interactive Authentication (Generation and Detection), AI Video Intelligent Interactive Authentication (Generation and Detection), and Pan-terminal Intelligent Speech Interactive Authentication (Generation and Detection). Unlike static testing, these tracks use closed-loop attack and defense scenarios to simulate real-world threats, encouraging participants to develop innovative solutions for securing digital identities in dynamic environments.

Industry and Academic Collaboration

Organized by leading institutions like Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Ant Security and AI Lab, Tsinghua University, and Zhejiang University, the challenge invites AI developers, security experts, and white-hat hackers to compete. “We have designed the competition to address scenarios where AI security on digital identities is crucial, such as in daily life services, financial services, and healthcare,” said Shao Xiaodong, co-chair of the Organizing Committee and Vice President of Ant Group. The 2024 event saw over 3,200 participants from 18 countries, highlighting its global impact.

Building a Trustworthy AI Ecosystem

With a prize pool exceeding $120,000 USD, the competition incentivizes advancements in AI security technologies. Participants can register via platforms like Alibaba Cloud Tianchi or the official websites of the INCLUSION·Conference, the Global AI Defense Challenge, or the China Society of Image and Graphics. By focusing on real-world applications, the challenge aims to enhance public awareness and strengthen defenses against AI-driven threats, contributing to a more secure and trustworthy AI ecosystem.

The Global AI Defense Challenge 2025 underscores the urgency of addressing AI security challenges. By uniting global talent to tackle deepfake threats, the competition drives innovation in securing digital identities, ensuring safer AI integration across critical industries.
