  • Universal Robots debuts UR8 Long cobot at FABTECH 2025.

  • Features 1750 mm reach and 8 kg payload in a slim design.

  • Ideal for welding, bin picking, and multi-point inspections.

  • Integrates PolyScope 5, PolyScope X, and MotionPlus technology.

  • Offers 30% faster cycle times and intuitive programming.

  • Shipping begins October 2025, order now available.

Advanced Automation with UR8 Long

The UR8 Long, showcased at FABTECH 2025, combines a 1750 mm reach with a compact, lightweight design, 30% lighter than the UR20. Its 8 kg payload and slim profile make it ideal for space-constrained setups in industries like automotive and manufacturing. “The UR8 Long is a smart robotic arm that can reach farther and do more than ever before,” said Jean Pierre Hathout, President of Universal Robots, emphasizing its ability to streamline repetitive and physically demanding tasks.

Optimized for Precision Welding

Designed with welding in mind, the UR8 Long offers superior precision and repeatability, reducing rework compared to manual welding. “UR8 Long delivers an easier teaching experience than traditional welding robots, better weld quality than manual welding, and less overall rework,” said Will Healy III, Global Industry Manager for Fabricated Metals at Teradyne Robotics. Its advanced motion control and intuitive programming enhance productivity, as demonstrated at partner booths like THG Automation and Vectis Automation.

Enhanced Bin Picking Capabilities

At UR’s FABTECH booth B13045, the UR8 Long showcases its ability to reach deep into dunnage bins, critical for automotive and industrial applications. Its fast wrist joints and compact tool flange enable more pick positions and up to 30% faster cycle times. “The improved features of the UR8 Long enables expansion into new welding and plasma cutting applications,” said Marcus Yakawich, Product Manager at Vectis Automation, highlighting its versatility in space-constrained workflows.

Cutting-Edge Technology and Scalability

The UR8 Long integrates with PolyScope 5, PolyScope X, and MotionPlus for precise control and smoother trajectories. Its upgraded freedrive capabilities simplify lead-to-teach programming, while its lightweight design suits gantry or overhead mounting. With shipping starting in October 2025, the cobot is poised to transform automation, with further demonstrations planned at SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN in Germany.

Universal Robots’ UR8 Long sets a new standard for collaborative robotics, offering unmatched reach, precision, and efficiency to empower businesses with scalable automation solutions.
