As managed service providers (MSPs) increasingly adopt automation to scale operations, the challenge has shifted from intent to execution. According to Rewst’s 2026 State of MSP Automation Report, automation has become a strategic priority across the industry, with the company now introducing AI-native capabilities designed to remove technical barriers and accelerate workflow creation at scale.
Rewst’s 2026 State of MSP Automation Report highlights a strong industry-wide shift toward automation, with nearly all MSPs now prioritizing it as a core part of their operational strategy.
The report also identifies expertise as a key barrier to scaling automation effectively. While demand is high, many MSPs struggle to build and maintain complex workflows due to a lack of specialized technical resources.
Despite this, Rewst reports significant adoption momentum, with customers processing more than 19.5 billion automated tasks over the past year, reflecting a substantial increase in operational automation at scale.
"If automation always requires a skilled builder, it will never scale," said Aharon Chernin, CEO and Founder of Rewst. "To move forward as an industry, we have to expand who gets to automate and deliver results."
At FLOW 2026, Rewst introduced AI-native automation capabilities designed to simplify workflow creation for MSPs.
The new system enables users to describe operational problems in natural language, after which an AI agent generates a corresponding workflow. These workflows are presented on a visual canvas where they can be reviewed, edited, and approved before deployment.
The company’s existing AI assistant, RoboRewsty, already helps bridge the gap between intent and execution, but the new upgrade expands this capability into fully AI-generated automation design.
"Rewst's RoboRewsty provides a bridge from a goal to a functional automation much faster than before," said Chernin. "But we are taking that to a deeper, even more integrated level: describe the problem, and the AI Agent builds the workflow for you on a canvas you can see, edit, and approve."
These capabilities are designed to support a wide range of MSP operations including onboarding, offboarding, ticket routing, alert management, reporting, and documentation workflows.
Rewst is also extending its Automation as a Service model to enable MSPs to build client-facing portals and dashboards with reduced technical complexity.
These features, while previously available, were often limited to larger MSPs with dedicated automation engineering teams. The new AI-driven approach aims to make these capabilities more accessible to smaller providers, helping them compete more effectively with larger operators.
"Using the new agent to build workflows is incredible," said Derrick Bennett, Senior Automation Engineer at Complete Network. "It's going to bridge the gap between small MSPs and large MSPs who can afford a full-time automation person. Small MSPs are going to achieve a level of automation they've never been able to realize until now."
To support its expanded AI automation capabilities, Rewst is upgrading its core execution engine to Temporal, a durable workflow orchestration platform used by companies such as OpenAI, Netflix, and Snap.
This infrastructure upgrade is intended to improve reliability and scalability across automated workflows, particularly as MSPs increase adoption of AI-driven automation systems.
Rewst’s findings suggest that MSPs adopting AI and automation together are gaining a compounding competitive advantage, while organizations slower to adopt may face widening operational gaps.
Early access to the new AI-native automation capabilities will begin on June 29, with broader availability to be announced following the initial rollout.
