IBM Think 2026: New AI Agent Capabilities for Enterprise Advantage

At Think 2026, IBM announced significant advancements to IBM Enterprise Advantage, its asset-based consulting service designed to help clients build and operate sovereign hybrid-AI platforms. IBM also introduced updates to IBM Consulting Advantage, its internal platform for service delivery. These updates focus on "Agentic AI" - enabling organizations to move beyond scaling models to scaling business outcomes with control and context.

Quick Intel

  • New Tools: Launched Context Studio (available now) and Process Studio (coming soon) to create and optimize AI agents.

  • Digital Sovereignty: A core focus on helping organizations maintain control over their data, models, and decisions across multiple AI stacks.

  • Key Results: Providence health system reduced manager hiring time by 90% and internal transfer costs by 60% using these AI capabilities.

  • Partnership Milestones: Previewed an AI agent certification solution with Pearson and expanded multi-agent interoperability with SAP.

  • Public Sector Reach: IBM Consulting Advantage is now FedRAMP authorized and available on AWS GovCloud (U.S.).

New Capabilities: Context and Process Studios

IBM is shifting the focus from generic AI to "Business Contextual AI" through two primary studios:

  • Context Studio: Allows enterprises to ground AI agents in their specific organizational data structures and processes. This ensures that AI outputs are accurate, relevant, and compliant with the organization's unique digital sovereignty requirements.

  • Process Studio: Designed to modernize legacy operations. It uses AI to extract logic from thousands of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and convert them into "agent-ready" workflows. In early applications, this approach identified over 1,000 improvement opportunities, projecting a 25% reduction in operating costs over 18 months.

Transforming the Workforce: Real-World Impacts

Leading organizations shared how they are utilizing IBM's AI-native layer to rebuild essential systems:

Organization AI Application Key Outcome
Providence HR Agent via watsonx Orchestrate 90% less time spent on hiring; internal transfers 12 days faster.
Pearson AI Agent Verification Developing a system to certify and assess the "skills" of AI agents.
SAP Multi-Agent Interoperability Enabled IBM agents to manage SAP's Joule agents via the A2A standard.

"Organizations aren't just trying to scale AI, they're trying to scale it with control across multiple AI stacks," said Mohamad Ali, SVP and Head of IBM Consulting.

Security and Interoperability

To support highly regulated industries and government entities, IBM Consulting Advantage has achieved FedRAMP authorization. This allows federal agencies to access AI automation on AWS GovCloud without managing the underlying infrastructure. Additionally, the expansion of the Agent2Agent (A2A) standard with SAP ensures that different AI agents can collaborate on complex multi-step services, reducing silos in the enterprise tech stack.
