Crafter Software has announced the release of CrafterCMS AI, a significant upgrade to its content management platform designed to enable AI-powered content authoring, developer productivity, and digital experience creation. The platform is positioned as the industry’s first open source Agentic CMS for enterprise use, combining content management with advanced AI capabilities.
Quick Intel
Crafter Software Crafter Software has introduced CrafterCMS AI, extending its Git-based, API-first content management system into an AI-enabled platform for enterprises. The solution integrates artificial intelligence directly into content workflows, enabling organizations to build AI-powered authoring environments, developer tools, and digital experiences within a unified CMS architecture.
The platform is designed to bridge traditional content management systems with modern AI infrastructure, allowing enterprises to transition from static content repositories to intelligent, agent-driven digital ecosystems.
CrafterCMS AI is built on the Spring AI framework and includes built-in vector search capabilities powered by OpenSearch. This enables semantic search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and conversational AI experiences without requiring additional external infrastructure.
The platform also enhances developer productivity through AI-assisted tools that support application development, migration, and customization using modern AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot. Additionally, MCP server and client integrations enable secure connections between AI agents, enterprise systems, and content repositories.
Within Crafter Studio, content creators can use AI to streamline workflows such as content generation, translation, metadata creation, summarization, and image generation. These capabilities are embedded directly into authoring tools, including Experience Builder, form engines, and project configuration modules.
The system supports multiple large language model providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, DeepSeek, and Ollama, along with custom scriptable integrations. This flexibility allows enterprises to align AI usage with internal governance, security, and compliance requirements while maintaining editorial control.
AI-driven assistants can also be deployed for automated workflows, enabling scheduled tasks and human-in-the-loop collaboration across content operations.
CrafterCMS AI is designed to support three core enterprise AI categories:
By combining API-first architecture with AI-native capabilities, the platform positions itself as a governance and orchestration layer for enterprise AI systems. It enables organizations to move toward agentic experiences where content, intelligence, and automation operate within a unified system.
“As enterprises race to adopt AI, many are discovering that intelligence alone is not enough,” said Mike Vertal, CEO of Crafter Software. “AI systems require trusted content, governance, security, version control, auditing and a reliable source of truth. CrafterCMS AI provides the deterministic foundation that enables organizations to safely and effectively deploy AI at scale.”
The platform is now available for both open source communities and enterprise customers, supporting a wide range of digital experience use cases across industries.
