Vena has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Acterys, aiming to create a new category of enterprise performance management called Orchestrated Planning. The combination unites Vena's Excel-native FP&A platform with Acterys' Power BI-based operational planning and analytics, providing a Microsoft-native environment to align strategic planning with real-time, AI-powered execution across the enterprise.
Vena to acquire Power BI-based planning platform Acterys.
The move creates a new category termed "Orchestrated Planning."
It combines Excel-native FP&A with Power BI write-back and Microsoft Fabric analytics.
The goal is to align strategic planning with real-time, AI-powered execution.
It provides a shared environment for Finance and IT within the Microsoft ecosystem.
The solution is available via the Microsoft Marketplace with Azure consumption benefits.
The acquisition is positioned as a move beyond traditional "integrated planning," which connects various plans, to "Orchestrated Planning," which aims to harmonize and automate every component of the planning and execution cycle. This model is designed to ensure organizational decisions and actions are continuously aligned with strategic goals, turning planning into enterprise-wide performance momentum powered by agentic AI.
The combined platform addresses a common enterprise divide by providing Finance teams with Vena's familiar, Excel-native FP&A capabilities and giving IT teams Acterys' tools for building operational applications and analytics within Power BI and Microsoft Fabric. This shared, trusted environment within the Microsoft stack allows both functions to build, extend, and operationalize real-time planning and scenario modeling at scale, using the tools they already trust.
By merging Vena's financial planning strengths with Acterys' operational planning and app development engine, the new entity aims to deliver a unified experience. Finance gains deeper operational insights, while IT can connect financial models to purpose-built applications. The result is intended to be AI-powered planning that aligns strategy, systems, and execution, helping enterprises move faster and with greater alignment.
"Vena and Acterys bring together the best of both worlds—Excel for Finance and Power BI for IT—to deliver a unified planning and analytics experience," said Mike Zack, CEO of Acterys. The acquisition, pending closing conditions, signifies a strategic bet on the Microsoft ecosystem as the foundational layer for next-generation, orchestrated business performance management.
