StubHub has launched an official app within OpenAI's ChatGPT, becoming one of the first major ticketing platforms to offer a conversational discovery experience directly inside the AI interface. The integration allows fans to find concerts, sports, and theater events using natural language, with the app providing real-time inventory, intelligent filtering, and a guided search process that adapts to user preferences.

Quick Intel

  • StubHub launches an official app within OpenAI's ChatGPT, enabling conversational ticket discovery for live events.

  • Fans can use natural language queries (e.g., "Find me the cheapest Yankees tickets for Saturday") to search StubHub's inventory in real-time.

  • The app remembers user preferences across a conversation, allowing for iterative refinement of search results.

  • It provides real-time availability and pricing from StubHub's marketplace of over 10 million events, not cached webpage links.

  • The integration is available on ChatGPT desktop, mobile web, and iOS/Android apps, sending users to StubHub to complete purchases.

  • This move aligns with StubHub's strategy to meet fans where they are and represents a step toward AI connecting directly to real-world services.

Transforming Search into a Guided Conversation

This integration fundamentally changes how users interact with a ticketing platform. Instead of manually filtering through website categories, fans can describe exactly what they want in a conversation with ChatGPT. The StubHub app then opens an interactive experience within the chat, displaying actual events, seat availability, and current prices. Users can refine their search naturally with follow-up prompts like "show me something cheaper" or "what about next weekend?"

"We’re committed to meeting fans where they are and excited to give fans another way to access live events,” said Art Yegorov, Chief Technology Officer at StubHub. “For the first time, fans have access to a ticket-finding assistant built right into a ChatGPT conversation."

How the Conversational Experience Works

To use the app, a user simply mentions StubHub in any ChatGPT conversation. A query like "StubHub, when are the Lakers playing this month?" will activate the app. The assistant can then process complex, multi-step requests, such as "Get me the 2 cheapest tickets for the game on Saturday."

The key differentiator from a web search is the app's persistent memory and contextual understanding. It retains criteria like budget, date, and seat quantity throughout the interaction, narrowing results with each exchange. When ready to buy, the app provides a direct link to StubHub's website to complete the transaction securely, backed by the platform's FanProtect Guarantee.

A Step Toward AI-Connected Services

The launch is positioned as a significant milestone in making AI a practical tool for everyday tasks. “The StubHub app in ChatGPT is another step toward bringing our vision to life—where AI connects directly to real-world services, saving people time and effort in their everyday lives,” said Nick Turley, VP, Head of ChatGPT at OpenAI.

For StubHub, the integration leverages its vast marketplace data—including over 40 million tickets purchased in 2024—and its pricing intelligence to deliver a trustworthy, efficient discovery layer. It offers a more intuitive alternative to traditional search, potentially surfacing options users might otherwise miss.

StubHub's ChatGPT app launch represents a pioneering move in the convergence of conversational AI and e-commerce. By embedding its service within a leading AI interface, StubHub is not only expanding its distribution but also redefining the user experience from a transactional search to a collaborative discovery process. This initiative could set a new standard for how other marketplaces integrate with AI platforms, emphasizing natural language interaction, real-time data access, and personalized guidance as key components of the future digital customer journey.
