SingleStore’s Tokyo office marks its eighth global location, building on a strong APAC presence with a Singapore hub and customers in 12 countries. “Expanding into Japan is both a strategic and symbolic step in SingleStore’s mission to power global AI progress,” said CEO Raj Verma. The move addresses Japan’s need for scalable, real-time data platforms to support next-generation AI applications.
Under Nishioka’s leadership, SingleStore will grow through strategic hires and partnerships with cloud providers and system integrators like AWS, Snowflake, and IBM. Nishioka emphasized, “Our goal is simple: empower Japanese businesses to realize their AI ambitions by giving them the performance, scale, and simplicity they need.”
Since 2017, SingleStore has partnered with Nikkei, powering real-time analytics for the Nikkei Online Edition. “With SingleStore, we’ve reduced data latency from 45 minutes to just 200 milliseconds,” said Hajime Sano, Nikkei’s software engineer and engineering manager. This enables 1,500 journalists to analyze reader behavior and deliver relevant content swiftly.
SingleStore’s platform unifies transactional (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) processing, supporting vector search, full-text search, and streaming data ingestion. It delivers 10-100x better performance at one-third the cost of legacy systems, making it ideal for AI-driven applications. Recent integrations, including Snowflake (September 2024) and BryteFlow (October 2024), enhance data ingestion from sources like SAP and Oracle, supporting real-time analytics and GenAI use cases.
Japan’s AI market is projected to grow at a 30% CAGR through 2030, driven by government initiatives and enterprise adoption. SingleStore’s $558M in funding and $1.3B valuation (2022) position it to capitalize on this demand. Its acquisition of BryteFlow and launch of SingleStore Flow, a no-code data migration tool, further streamline data integration for AI workloads.
SingleStore empowers the world’s leading organizations to build and scale modern applications using the only data platform that allows you to transact, analyze and search data in real time. With streaming data ingestion, support for both transactions and analytics, horizontal scalability and vector and full text search capabilities, SingleStore helps deliver 10–100x better performance at 1/3 the cost of legacy architectures.
