SAS, a leader in data and AI solutions, introduced a new suite of lightweight, industry-specific AI models at SAS Innovate in Orlando, Florida. These models, part of a $1 billion investment in industry solutions, target labor- and time-intensive business processes, offering ready-to-use or customizable options that integrate seamlessly with existing systems to boost productivity and ROI.

Quick Intel

  • SAS debuts AI models to address business bottlenecks at SAS Innovate 2025.

  • Models focus on cross-industry, healthcare, manufacturing, and public sector challenges.

  • Pre-built AI agent automates data preparation for real-time model execution.

  • Guided by SAS’ Data Ethics Practice for transparent, responsible AI.

  • Future models planned for banking, healthcare, manufacturing, and public sector in 2025.

  • Supported by partners Microsoft, Intel, and AWS.

Addressing Business Bottlenecks

Announced on May 7, 2025, SAS’ new AI models tackle specific operational inefficiencies across industries. Available now, the models include:

  • Cross-Industry: AI-Driven Entity Resolution and Document Analysis for streamlined data management.

  • Healthcare: Medication Adherence Risk to improve patient outcomes.

  • Manufacturing: Strategic Supply Chain Optimization for enhanced efficiency.

  • Public Sector: Payment Integrity for Food Assistance and Tax Compliance for Sales Tax to ensure regulatory adherence.

Each model is designed for rapid deployment, either as a ready-to-go solution or tailored to customer data, integrating with existing systems to minimize setup time. “SAS Models are based on SAS’ core assets, talent, and intellectual property,” said Kathy Lange, Research Director at IDC, noting their scalability and ease of integration for organizations lacking AI expertise.

Ethics-Driven Innovation

Guided by SAS’ Data Ethics Practice, the models emphasize transparency and explainability, ensuring results are easy to understand and align with responsible AI standards. Simple documentation empowers users to deploy AI confidently, enhancing productivity while maintaining ethical integrity. This approach addresses concerns about AI governance, a growing priority as 84% of government decision-makers plan to invest in generative AI in the next fiscal year.

Agentic AI and Future Plans

SAS is advancing toward agentic AI, with a pre-built AI agent that automates complex data preparation tasks, eliminating manual data restructuring and enabling real-time model performance. “We believe the future of AI lies in agents that are not only intelligent but also responsible, ready-to-use, and relevant,” said Udo Sglavo, VP of Applied AI and Modeling, R&D at SAS.

Looking ahead, SAS plans to launch additional models in 2025, including:

  • Banking: Fraud Decisioning for Payments and Card Models.

  • Healthcare: Payment Integrity for Health Care.

  • Manufacturing: Worker Safety Monitoring.

  • Public Sector: Tax Compliance for Individual Income Tax.

These offerings will include agentic counterparts, further automating industry-specific tasks with greater autonomy. Posts on X highlight enthusiasm for SAS’ ready-made models, noting their potential to boost productivity and deliver clear insights.

Industry Context and Impact

SAS’ announcement aligns with 2025 predictions emphasizing AI model specialization and sustainability. Experts predict large language models (LLMs) will become commoditized, shifting value to domain-specific applications like SAS’ offerings. The models leverage SAS’ decades of expertise, addressing challenges like fraud detection, supply chain optimization, and compliance, which are critical in sectors facing AI skills shortages.

Supported by partners Microsoft, Intel, and AWS, SAS’ Viya platform enhancements, including tools for AI agent deployment, complement the models, simplifying the AI pipeline from data ingestion to deployment. By focusing on practical, governable AI, SAS is positioned to help organizations navigate regulatory complexities and drive measurable outcomes, reinforcing its leadership in enterprise analytics.
