Samsara, the pioneer of the Connected Operations Platform, today announced Samsara MCP (Model Context Protocol), a direct connection that enables customers to bring their Samsara operational data into the AI assistants, agents, and applications of their choosing without requiring a custom integration.
Customers can now analyze their own Samsara data alongside information from other business systems with existing permissions intact.
Since its inception, Samsara has built an open platform that connects physical operations with the systems that run the rest of the business. Its ecosystem of more than 400 integrations, along with APIs and developer tools, lets customers and partners build on that foundation. Built on the same live operational data layer as Samsara Assistant, MCP makes operational data available to customers' AI tools as Samsara adds capabilities, without requiring customers to rebuild their integrations.

Together, MCP and Agent Studio, introduced at Samsara's Beyond 2026 customer conference, give customers two supported paths for building AI workflows around their operational data: create agents within Samsara or connect their owned Samsara data to their own third-party AI systems to get a more holistic view of their organization.
Customers can now connect their own third-party AI applications to Samsara using their existing credentials, including single sign-on. Access remains limited to their organization and existing permissions, with every request linked to the person making it. If someone cannot see information in Samsara, their connected AI tool cannot access it either.
Once connected, customers can ask questions about their operations directly in Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or Cursor. More than 40 read-only tools allow these applications to retrieve information about vehicles, drivers, safety events and hours of service without changing records in Samsara. Developers can also incorporate these tools into custom agents. For more complex questions, customers' chosen AI application can turn to Samsara Assistant: Samsara's purpose-built agents perform the analysis within the platform and return an answer.
By connecting Samsara through MCP alongside other business systems, customers can bring live operational information into decisions across HR, finance and procurement: Workforce reporting comparing driver hours-of-service with Workday time and attendance, Financial analysis examining mileage, fuel consumption and idle time alongside budgets, Procurement comparing equipment utilization with rental agreements.
