This enhancement strengthens FME’s ability to connect AI models, agents, and systems securely to an organization’s existing data ecosystem and workflows. As enterprises shift AI from experimentation to production, MCP addresses key challenges in context management, interoperability, and security by providing a standardized interface for AI to interact with databases, internal tools, APIs, and other systems without custom-coded integrations.

The MCPCaller transformer allows FME users to integrate with MCP-enabled systems at authoring time or dynamically during execution, significantly broadening the range of tools and services accessible within FME workflows. Simultaneously, FME Flow’s MCP Server extension enables organizations to publish existing workflows as callable MCP tools. This dual approach supports secure, OAuth 2.0-protected interactions, allowing AI agents and models to leverage enterprise data reliably while maintaining strict governance and compliance.
