Robo.ai Inc., a UAE-based technology company focused on the AI machine economy, has entered into a definitive joint venture agreement with Tachyon9 Corporation, a U.S.-based advanced data center infrastructure provider. The JV, majority owned by Robo.ai through its subsidiary Robo.ai Investments L.L.C.-FZ, will invest in, develop, and operate high-performance AI data centers and next-generation digital infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates and key global markets.

  • Robo.ai and Tachyon9 form a JV to build and operate AI-optimized data centers, with Robo.ai holding majority ownership.
  • First initiative: development of a 20 MW AI data center in APAC or MENA, engineered for Large Language Model training and mission-critical workloads, targeted for operation in 12–24 months.
  • The partnership closes the loop between chip supply (via recent Gold Reseller agreement with The Ghazi Group) and physical infrastructure operations.
  • JV addresses a $200 billion global AI infrastructure gap, targeting the $16–25 billion “Immediate Crisis Resolution” market in 2026.
  • Key pillars include liquid cooling retrofits for 2–3x rack density, edge micro data centers for rapid deployment, and an Equipment-as-a-Service model to reduce CapEx by up to 62%.
  • Regional TAM in APAC and MENA estimated at $6–10 billion, driven by national digital initiatives in UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Closing the Silicon + Infrastructure Loop

The JV builds on Robo.ai’s recent Gold Reseller agreement for advanced CPU, GPU, and AI inferencing hardware. By combining top-tier compute resources with Tachyon9’s high-efficiency data center expertise, the partnership optimizes costs, ensures service stability, and delivers scalable AI solutions to clients amid global capacity constraints.

Shahal Khan, Executive Chairman of Tachyon9, said: "The global edge-based AI data center market is projected to surpass $50 billion by 2030, with the Middle East and Asia capturing a rapidly growing share. Tachyon9's leadership in U.S. data center innovation, combined with Robo.ai's regional expertise in robotics and edge computing, creates a powerful platform to drive the next generation of AI infrastructure across these high-growth markets."

Benjamin Zhai, CEO of Robo.ai, said: "This Joint Venture completes a critical piece of our infrastructure puzzle. Having secured access to the 'compute engine' (chips) last week, we have now secured the 'chassis' (physical infrastructure). In an era of global capacity scarcity, this vertical integration ensures we can deliver stable, efficient, and scalable AI solutions to our clients."

Tackling the Tier 1 Crisis in AI Infrastructure

The global AI sector faces a severe bottleneck: grid connection queues of 3–7 years and cooling demands that exceed traditional limits by 4–8x for modern GPUs. The JV targets rapid resolution through:

  • Liquid cooling retrofits to unlock higher rack density without new power infrastructure.
  • Prefabricated edge micro data centers to support 5G and autonomous vehicle networks in months rather than years.
  • Capital-efficient models that lower upfront costs and improve project returns.

These solutions position the JV to capture significant value in high-growth APAC and MENA markets, supported by initiatives like the UAE’s “We The UAE 2031” vision and Saudi Arabia’s smart city projects.
