  • Launching digital products like Lumen Connect, Fabric Port, and Multi-Cloud Gateway in late 2025/early 2026

  • Developing custom network interface device with AI monitoring and autonomous network management

  • Financial progress includes debt reduction, cost savings, and projected revenue growth by 2029

  • Ecosystem approach with validated designs and partnerships fosters AI-driven innovation and customer solutions

Building the Backbone for the AI Economy

Lumen’s strategy begins with expanding its physical network infrastructure coast-to-coast. The company plans to add 34 million intercity and metro fiber miles by 2028, reaching 47 million miles total, delivering 400G speeds today with future scalability up to 1.6 terabits. This robust network ensures customers can innovate and grow with reliable, high-speed connectivity.

Cloudifying and Agentifying Telecom

Addressing the complexity of modern networks, Lumen is transforming telecom into a programmable, on-demand digital platform. Innovations set to launch include Lumen Connect (self-service digital portal), a universal Fabric Port, and Multi-Cloud Gateway, enabling customers to provision and scale services rapidly across thousands of locations. A new branded network interface device launching in 2026 will offer AI-powered self-healing, zero-touch provisioning, and API-driven control to optimize network management.

Creating a Connected Ecosystem

Lumen integrates its infrastructure with technology partners and customers to deliver AI, security, backup, and recovery solutions as part of a fully digital ecosystem. The company uses a test-and-learn model to pilot innovations and scale impactful programs, complemented by Lumen Validated Designs (LVDs) that provide pretested, outcome-driven configurations simplifying complex architectures.

Financial Strength Fuels Growth

Lumen has made significant financial strides by reducing gross debt by over 35%, cutting interest expenses nearly in half, and achieving cost savings through modernization programs. The company expects AI-driven digital revenues to outpace legacy declines by 2026, with projected business segment growth starting in 2028 and overall revenue growth returning by 2029.

CEO Kate Johnson summarized, “We’re proud to be at the forefront of this transformation—building the trusted network for AI and delivering exceptional value to our customers and shareholders.”
