KPMG LLP has entered a strategic relationship with Uniphore to build and operationalize AI agents powered by fine-tuned small language models (SLMs), accelerating production-grade AI deployment across regulated industries including banking, insurance, energy, and healthcare.

Quick Intel

  • KPMG partners with Uniphore to develop AI agents using Uniphore’s Business AI Cloud and industry-specific SLMs.
  • Focus on regulated sectors: banking, insurance, energy, healthcare, with emphasis on governance and compliance.
  • AI agents target procurement, workforce optimization, finance, claims, and customer experience workflows.
  • Solutions integrate with enterprise data platforms like Databricks and Snowflake without requiring data migration.
  • Initial use case: AI-powered procurement agents for contract classification, risk flagging, and exception routing.
  • Collaboration advances KPMG’s shift from AI pilots to scalable, production AI embedded in business processes.

Strategic Collaboration for Production AI

Uniphore, the Business AI company, announced a strategic relationship with KPMG LLP to operationalize AI agents in both internal and client-facing workflows. This partnership supports KPMG’s transition from experimental AI initiatives to secure, production-grade deployments that deliver measurable business outcomes.

The collaboration leverages Uniphore’s Business AI Cloud platform, which provides a sovereign, composable, and secure architecture for agentic AI. KPMG contributes its deep expertise in small language models and industry knowledge to fine-tune SLMs tailored to regulated sectors.

Industry-Specific AI Agents and SLM Factory Model

KPMG and Uniphore are building AI agents that encode institutional knowledge, regulatory frameworks, and process playbooks into specialized SLMs. These agents operate across key business functions, including procurement, workforce optimization, finance, claims processing, and customer experience.

A central element is an SLM factory model that transforms traditional knowledge work—previously delivered through people and documents—into scalable, reusable AI systems. This approach enables horizontal solutions alongside industry-specific applications in oil and gas, financial services, healthcare, and telecommunications.

AI-Powered Procurement Solution in Production

One of the first client-facing solutions emerging from the partnership is an AI agent-driven procurement and contracting capability. These agents classify high-value contracts, compare terms against approved standards, extract obligations, identify risks, and route exceptions for human review. By embedding directly into enterprise workflows, the solution tackles revenue leakage, lengthy review cycles, and inconsistent risk management.

Designed for Enterprise Realities

The joint effort prioritizes production environments where data is fragmented, processes are interconnected, and governance is essential. Unlike pilot-focused AI projects, these agents are engineered to work with reliable, contextualized, and operationally accessible data.

The platform integrates seamlessly with modern enterprise data environments such as Databricks and Snowflake. This preserves existing data controls, lineage, access policies, and enforcement mechanisms, allowing AI agents to reason over trusted production data without creating parallel systems or forcing migrations.

“Uniphore is becoming an increasingly significant player in enterprise AI, and we are pleased to work together to help translate business knowledge into AI-enabled delivery models that drive real outcomes for our clients,” said Prasad Jayaraman, advisory principal at KPMG.

“We are thrilled to align with Uniphore’s vision for AI as a transformative force for business as we focus on helping clients move from AI experimentation to real operational value," said Prasad Jayaraman, advisory principal at KPMG. “Working together with Uniphore to use AI to transform regulated industries supports our mission to embed business AI into how work gets done, in a way that is governed, scalable and aligned with client needs."

“Business AI proves its value in production, where enterprise environments are complex, regulated, and deeply interconnected,” said Umesh Sachdev, CEO and co-founder of Uniphore. “Our work with KPMG enables a repeatable process for running AI inside real enterprise workflows, so organizations can scale how people and AI work together and drive outcomes.”

This partnership positions KPMG and Uniphore to lead the deployment of governed, scalable AI agents that embed intelligence directly into core business processes across highly regulated industries.

The announcement aligns with the opening of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, where leaders from both organizations are engaging clients and partners on the future of business AI.
