KIOXIA America, Inc., in collaboration with Dell Technologies, has introduced the KIOXIA LC9 Series SSD, featuring an industry-first 245.76 TB capacity. This high-efficiency storage solution is designed to support AI-scale workloads, delivering superior performance and reduced power consumption for data centers.

Quick Intel

  • KIOXIA LC9 Series SSD offers up to 245.76 TB, the industry’s highest capacity.

  • Powers AI applications with PCIe 5.0 and NVMe 2.0 specifications.

  • Available in 2.5-inch, E3.S, and E3.L form factors for flexible integration.

  • Replaces multiple HDDs, optimizing GPU usage and reducing cooling needs.

  • Built with BiCS FLASH™ generation 8 and CMOS Bonded to Array (CBA) tech.

  • Enhances rack density, lowers TCO, and supports sustainable AI infrastructure.

Unprecedented Storage Capacity

The KIOXIA LC9 Series SSD, with capacities from 30.72 TB to 245.76 TB, sets a new benchmark for storage density. Utilizing KIOXIA’s BiCS FLASH™ generation 8 with 32-die QLC stacking and CBA technology, it delivers 8 TB in a compact 154-ball BGA package, enabling massive storage in small form factors. This makes it ideal for AI workloads like large language model (LLM) training and retrieval augmented generation (RAG).

Energy Efficiency and Scalability

By replacing multiple traditional HDDs, the LC9 Series optimizes GPU utilization, frees up drive bays, and reduces cooling requirements, resulting in lower power consumption and data center footprints. “SSDs like the KIOXIA LC9 Series combined with Dell PowerEdge servers offer high-capacity, power-efficient solutions tailored for advanced AI workloads while optimizing TCO and data center footprints,” said Arun Narayanan, senior vice president, Compute and Networking, Dell Technologies.

Performance for AI Workloads

Designed to PCIe 5.0 and NVMe 2.0 standards, the LC9 Series delivers up to 12 GB/s sequential read and 3 GB/s write speeds, with 1.3 million random read IOPS. Its dual-port support ensures high availability, making it suitable for data lakes and hyperscale environments. Flexible Data Placement (FDP) reduces write amplification, enhancing endurance at 0.3 DWPD.

Long-Standing Partnership with Dell

The collaboration between KIOXIA and Dell Technologies builds on over two decades of innovation, including pioneering PCIe 5.0 EDSFF E3.S and 24G SAS deployments. “Enterprises today are pushing the limits of their data center infrastructure to stay competitive in the AI era,” said Neville Ichhaporia, senior vice president and general manager of the SSD business unit at KIOXIA America, Inc.

KIOXIA’s LC9 Series SSD, showcased at the Future of Memory and Storage 2025 conference, empowers organizations to scale AI infrastructure efficiently, supporting multi-petabyte datasets while minimizing energy and space requirements.
