Keysight Technologies, Inc. and Point2 Technology have announced a strategic collaboration to validate Point2’s innovative e-Tube™ multi-terabit interconnect technology using Keysight’s high-speed digital test solutions, targeting critical power, bandwidth, and latency challenges in AI and machine learning data centers.
Keysight Technologies, Inc. and Point2 Technology are working together to validate next-generation multi-terabit interconnects designed to overcome scale-up connectivity limitations in AI and machine learning data centers. The partnership focuses on Point2’s e-Tube™ technology, which utilizes RF data transmission over plastic waveguides to deliver high-performance, power-efficient alternatives to traditional copper and optical interconnects.
Keysight provides its industry-leading high-speed digital test portfolio, including the M8050A High-Performance Bit Error Ratio Tester (BERT) and DCA-X Sampling Oscilloscopes, to rigorously characterize and validate the e-Tube™ platform’s performance, reliability, and compliance with hyperscaler requirements.
Exponential growth in AI workloads is driving unprecedented bandwidth demands, creating significant interconnect bottlenecks when scaling xPU clusters in hyperscale environments. Point2’s e-Tube™ technology targets these issues by offering up to 10x longer reach than copper interconnects at a comparable cost structure, while delivering 3x lower power consumption and cost, and dramatically reduced latency—1,000x lower than optics.
This approach provides designers with a high-density, energy-efficient interconnect solution that can replace legacy copper systems and potentially eliminate scale-up limitations in large-scale AI deployments.
Keysight’s comprehensive validation framework ensures the new interconnects meet stringent performance and reliability standards required by hyperscalers. The collaboration enables early research and development on 3.2T interfaces through Keysight’s unique 448 Gbps electrical signal generation capabilities, paired with real-time and sampling oscilloscope analysis.
Critical testing includes the generation and evaluation of complex 120 GBaud PAM4 signals essential for achieving 1.6 Terabit and higher speeds, supporting the industry’s push toward multi-terabit connectivity.
